Four More Years… Of Exile (Responding to the Obama Re-Election)

Four More Years…of exile. But there is hope. Please read my thoughts on where we go from here. –Steve

I’m writing to you to explain why, even after a late and discouraging evening that stretched past 1am on the east coast, I was back at the office before 8am this morning.

And why the sinking feeling i felt last night has already been replaced with a deep determination.

And why I’m going out to buy equipment for our new office this afternoon.

And why we are going to build, build, build — despite a stunning and, for me, unexpected defeat.

+ + Let’s Be Clear: We Just Got Pummeled

Before I go on, let’s be clear: last night was a defeat and I didn’t see it coming. I expected a “Tea Party Wave” — perhaps a 300+ victory for Romney. All the signs seemed to be there. The 2010 elections, the failed recall of Scott Walker and even the Chick-Fil-A Day pointed to a re-shaped political landscape. The polls and crowds made it clear that there was more enthusiasm with Romney.

But that wave never came. The people did not rise up and reject Obama’s statism. Quite the opposite — 15 million fewer people voted and Romney earned less votes than John McCain did four years prior.

+ + Far Worse Than 2008

Upon reflection, what happened last night was far worse than what happened in 2008. Our first “dance” with Obama was mostly about smoke and mirrors — “hope and change” that was never really defined. For many Americans, Obama 2008 was more an idea, an idealized dream and a collective catharsis from our dark past.

But Obama 2012 was something altogether different because now we know the real Barack Obama. We watched him advance the most radical leftist agenda at least since FDR. We saw him rape and pillage the free market and impose a government takeover of industries. We witnessed him go to foreign nations nd apologize for America and then leave our people alone to die in Benghazi.

This time we knew Barack Obama. Yet a majority of American voters said, “More!” and the opposition to Obama’s agenda never really showed up at the polls.

We can try to console ourselves by saying it was a close election… that the leftist media gave Obama the election…. that we couldn’t really expect a Northeastern liberal Republican to be our standard bearer…. that a bizarre hurricane swung the election.

All that may be true.

But it matters little now. And the less time we spend blaming each other or the trickery of the other guys the better.

So here’s why I’m more determined…. why I’m building.

+ + A 2,500-Year-Old Letter Written For Today

I want to share with you a letter that, although it is 2,500 years old, it could have been written this morning. For us. For faithful patriots who feel like they just discovered they will have to live at least the next four years in exile.

This letter was written to Jewish exiles who had been pushed out of Jerusalem and forced to live under a tyrannical ruler named Nebuchadnezzar.

The exiles wanted one thing: they wanted to be re-established back in Israel. They even had a prophet named Hananiah come to them and tell them that their time of exile would only last two years.

You can read about it in Jeremiah 28.

Hananiah was a false prophet. He died.

And so Jeremiah wrote a letter to the exiles. You’ve probably heard a part of that letter recited many times. It’s one of the most commonly quoted passages in the entire Bible. Unfortunately, this passage is mostly taken out of its proper context and delivered as a “feel good” word that everything is going to be good.

One of my friends was quoting this verse yesterday morning:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Those words sound so good. The future is bright. God has a plan for prosperity, for a real hope and a real future. On the eve of the election, it must have meant a Romney win, the GOP takes the Senate and we start the rollback of the Obama regime, right?

Not exactly.

+ + The Plan Was Exile

Here’s the shocking context of Jeremiah 29 (and I offer to you, the context for 11/6/12): Then plan was exile.

That was the “plan” Jeremiah’s letter was talking about. I encourage you to go read all of Jeremiah 29. Here is the immediate context:

This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place. For I know the plans…..

The plan was 70 years of exile. Keep that in mind the next time someone quotes Jeremiah 29:11 to encourage you that your time of trouble will soon end. Not only was the exile going to last 70 years, the exile WAS the plan!

If you don’t believe me, go back and read the beginning of the letter, from Jeremiah 29:4. Here you’ll see the Lord (through Jeremiah) giving the Jewish exiles specific instructions on how to conduct themselves in exile:

–Build houses and settle down

–Plan gardens and eat what they produce

–Marry and have sons and daughters

–Marry off your sons and daughters so they can have children

–Increase in number; do not decrease

Again, remember the context. A false prophet had just come and said the time of exile would only last two years. That prophet died. The truth is, the people will be in exile for 70 years. And the directive is to build families, grow businesses, think trans-generationally and increase.

+ + Seek The Welfare Of The Land

It gets better. Because Jeremiah’s letter makes it clear that building and marrying is not enough. People in exile must do something else — they must be a blessing to the land.

Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

So let’s review. First, the Plan is exile. Second, build. Third, bless. Simple, clear instructions.

But why was this important? Why a “plan” for exile with specific instructions on how to act in exile?

Historians tell us that it was during the Babylonian captivity that the Israelites moved from a Temple/ Jerusalem focused society to a synagogue and community focused society. Simply put…

It was the lessons learned during their time in exile which enabled the Jews to survive 2,500 years in exile. But not just surive, but to thrive and become the most prosperous, most successful and most innovative people group in the history of civilization.

Exile was the plan.

So that’s why, today, I’m going to build. And I’m going to plant. I’m going to bless. And I’m going to pray.

For that is the final piece to the puzzle…

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

So let’s get building. Let’s get planting. And let’s get praying. And let’s bless this land. There are lessons to be learned in exile.

  1. Kenneth Filla says:

I do agree with your message, but it seems that our country has
citzens that refuse to comprehend what lays ahead of them in this godless
society that has transpired. Our only hope is to individual peace with the
lord to bear up whats coming.

    • Linda Davis says:

I agree with you and I would like to add that as Christians, we are to embrace all (even those we do not like or agree with). God calls us to pray for our enemy. This is very hard to do but Jesus did it and I will try my hardest to follow Him.

      • Mary Jaen says:

I am very disappointed with the outcome of the election. I know God is in control, but can’t believe that He would allow Oboma to be re-elected know his agenda. I can pray for the office of president but will find it very hard to vote for the president. I am 73 years old and have voted in every election and this was the first time that I was and am fearful because of the outcome.

        • Ann Brown says:

i am 71 years old and I heartily agree with this comment. I fear what the next four years will bring and what our country is becoming.

        • Ann says:

I can completely understand your feelings, I’ve been struggling all day. I go between anger, bewilderment and grieving. As I posted on my facebook, I feel like I’m watching my nation die. It’s a deep deep sadness. Steve’s article gave me a sence of peace, not over the circumstances because lets be real, they’re only going to get worse, and will never be the same again. But I take comfort being surrounded by such a great community of believers. We cannot choose the times in which we live, but we can choose what we do with that time. So…. for such a time has this.. build.

          • Sheila Scott says:

Thank you, Steve. Your scripture references encouraged me. I have never cried after a presidential election before, but I did last night. I believe all of our prayers were heard, but just not answered in the way we had hoped. I was deeply saddened by the election outcome. I couldn’t sleep last night so I got up and read Scriptures, mostly in the Book of Isaiah. Truly our hope is in God and His ultimate plan for those who are His. God gently reminded me through my tears, “Weeping my endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Dear Ones, Keep praying, keep serving in the Name of the King of Kings…and keep looking for THE MORNING.

          • Greg says:

Seems all of you are hitting the nail on the head, especially when you say “… I’m watching my nation die”. Perhaps that is what God needs to have happen? Is not His command that we DIE to self and take up HIS cross and follow HIM?

Please do not mis-read me: there is NO condemnation here for loving your country and praying that our country glorifies God. However, we are not citizens of this world–we are just passing through. And sometimes Christians in America seem to be more citizens of America than of New Jerusalem (and I’m talking about me).

Perhaps God’s will IS being done. Perhaps judgement is long overdue for our godless nation. It is fine to grieve as we watch what was won by the blood of Christians centuries past be infiltrated and overtaken by Satan’s minions–those who sacrifice nothing and take everything. But there needs to be a death of us taking comfort in anything other than the Lord–even our beloved America.

          • ralph says:

your very our blessed nation has to die for she has become to proud and God says He will humble the proud and exalt the humble. it is a time of mourning that our nation has chosen the shedding of innocent blood and homosexuality over righteousness. but as the passage above says God must allow the will of the people for a season so He can purge the land. revival is coming. in Christ our Lord!

          • terri says:

We as Christians must remember that the War has already been won. These (election) battles that we face train us to depend on God alone. Our sense of security must not rest in our possessions or things going our way. We need to be willing to let go of anything He chooses to take away. And in that, remember to trust Him! He knows what we need and has promised to take care of us in any situation!

          • Angela DeFranco says:

I’m confused about Jeremiah’s message relating to us. We do all that is asked of us so that at the end of four years Obama can gloat and say, “Look what I’ve accomplished during my four years.”
Another thought. Isn’t it pecular that Obama knew he was going to win when he told Putin that he would be able to help him more after the elections. The results of this election sound too fishy to me. What do you think?

        • Farm girl says:

A big part of the reason Obama won, was Chicago. I am from Illinois so I can testify to this. There is so much corruption there, and so much voter fraud. So many dead people are ” voting” and Illinois has 21( I think) electoral votes. That makes a big difference . Most of Illinois is very much republican. Somewhere there is a video on utube of some people that went ( conservatives) and pretended they were going to vote twice and went to obamas campaign hq and they were told That is So Great

        • C. Hennon says:

What does true followers of Christ have to do with this world. The bible teaches we are in the world but not of it. We are passing thru. This place is not my home. I have one mission, that is to do the will of God and Preach the gospel. I could care less about which of these godless men won the election. My only prayer is that they both be saved. All you so called Christians crying because a godless man in a cult lost an election, shame on you. You should all repent or cease calling yourselves Christians and followers of Christ. I pray for you all if your hope is in a godless man winning an election. God help you all.

          • Kathi says:

C Hennon. You seem very judgemental. You seem to think that since he is of another religion that he is godless. He prays like you he loves his family as you do I’m sure. His religion is one of service as I hope yours is. His religion does service for the world not just believers of his religion. If your congregation was in need his religion would be willing and able to be there to support your efforts to get through devastation. What other than a difference of doctrine do you have against his religion? His actions and those of the followers of his religion, as are those of yours, an effort to live as Jesus Christ did. Please try to get the beam out of your own eye before condemning someone for the mote in theirs

    • EvelynAllyn says:

Thank you for such an uplifting and insightful message. Through Christ we have a hope and a future. Jesus instructed His disciples to pray “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” We are light in this dark depraved world, ambassadors of God’s kingdom, commissioned to go into all the world, taking the good news of the gospel of His love and grace to all people. Ephesians 3:20 tells us He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to the power that is at work within us, We are not helpless orphans – not with the power of the Holy Spirit at work within us. So our assignment is to be on our knees, attentive to His directions, and ready to move out on them. Oh God, bring revival to America and begin with me, Amen.

    • Gilda Cabrera Reyes says:

Our family came to exile 50 years ago, from Cuba. The Lord blessed us with a new life in this country we love. We are old now, and are still waiting for our native country to be free. What is happening here? The Lord knows, He is in control, and we trust Him and know that at the end we are “more than conquerors in Jesus Christ, our Lord” because the final victory is His, and ours, because we love and trust Him, and know He doesn’t make mistakes. But it is hard, and only by His mercy and strength, we will continue onward until Jesus come again!

      • Susan says:

I am happy for you that America was a great Nation when you escaped Cuba. I had hoped over the last four years that immigrants would have gathered as a group on the National stage to testify to the horrible life under a dictator and a government who practices the redistribution of wealth. The people of this country cannot understand this concept since the Liberals have rewritten the History books in the public school system.

  2. Len Davis says:

This is an excellent word for us today, Steve. I agree with you and appreciate your thoughtfulness and encouragement on this dark day. God bless you and yours!

  3. Lynn M. Rogers says:

I was so moved by your email that I cried. Some things move you in ways that you cannot imagine. I will read this and re-read it again. I wish I had more words but we will keep & defend our prinicipals & that gives me hope if better days ahead even though rough seas are expected their will be a calm in the storms & that is where I will be-waiting for the next wave to come!

  4. LHARMON says:

I am very sad to say that I think you are right on the money! I think Christians are very much in the minority now. We need to be on our faces before our Lord crying out for this country and its people to turn back to him. We need to share the Gospel in this country every day to everyone for the neighbor on your right and left probably doesn’t know him. This is what happens with God is taken out of the schools and families and society little by little by little.

    • L. Gauger says:

Amen! Encouraging comments everyone, thank you. Many of us were flabbergasted at the outcome and cried buckets and had been on our faces praying for this election. Our once blessed nation has now come under judgement. We have been moving away from trusting God alone for quite some generations (just like the Israelites in the Old Testament), and our society has been on a downhill slide. Read Isaiah 9:8-21, are we not in the same situation? Even though He has applied the rod of correction, we are so blind that we do not see it and have not returned to Him. Believe it — I have read some blogs where Christian folks have written in and do not believe that homosexuality is a sin! They do not even know what God’s word says, we (who do know) have been negligent in making disciples as we are commanded to do in Matthew 28. Let us all get busy humbling ourselves before God and be obedient to his word. May our Lord strengthen all of you and give you wisdom, power and boldness to share his word.

  5. Donna Testa says:

Steve, you made me cry! I have held back all day until I read this. We want the quick fix and sometimes God doesn’t see it that way. Great word!

  6. Lisa Samuel says:

    Steve,
I like so many was devastated last night. I woke up countless times in disbelief and have hardly been able to eat today. For a fleeting moment I was asking why God would let this happen to his blessed nation. So many people prayed over and over to not re-elect Obama. I felt abandoned. But, I remembered the Lord is the true leader and his principles and rules have not changed, even if the majority of the citizens in our country have lost some moral principles. Thank you for the wonderful verse.

  7. MBlank says:

    Amen! Thank you!

  8. Steve, your post was encouraging. I love the scripture you shared. My husband and I plan on planting and sustaining our small business, as we keep our eyes above the line.

I shared the following with my people today, maybe it too will encourage others.
Dear friends, let not your hearts be troubled, remember that we don’t put our faith in the government, we put our faith and trust in God. He is in control and when you follow Him, he won’t let you down. Man cannot offer the same. Tom and I were very sad last night at the outcome of the election. I couldn’t sleep most of the night. I tossed and turned and asked God “Why?” with all of us praying for our country, why did the election turn out this way. Then I remembered how since before my babies were born I prayed for them and yet God allowed my son to be murdered at age 26. Through that loss I learned to trust more in God than ever before. I knew I could trust Him in this situation as well. I still struggled with what happened and woke up all through the night. I never looked at the clock except for one time. And you know what time it was? 3:16. Immediately I recited John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that all who believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” God is not going to let His people down. He is the same today as He was yesterday and as He will be forever. This life is temporary, we need to keep our focus on eternity and the things that really matter.

    • Gina says:

Thanks for your posting–it brought tears to my eyes. We had a similar situation when my husband broke his neck–God was so present with us, and it was so amazing to see how He got us through such a dark time in our lives.

  9. KayLynn Gibson says:

What you said encouraged me. The Lord had already spoken that message to me last night and the day before the election Jer. 29 was apart of my daily reading. Your email was a confirmation of the Lord’s perfect will. So now all we need to do is rest.

  10. Lisa Pelurie says:

Its about time to talk about God – get him out in the open.
Thanks so much for sharing this! We all got a little scripture in the middle of the day. It helps, even though I’m sad for my country.

  11. Janice says:

I honestly believe the electoral vote is going to have to be banished, before the real American people will have a true vote! By doing this to me it will be more of a real honest vote for everyone. Just my thoughts. We will just have to do what we can to save our America and leave the rest to the Good Lord!
Thank you for your very encouraging letter, it really helped to get over the devastating loss last night. May God be with us all the next four years!!!!

    • Elizabeth Couture says:

Take care with the electoral college! While seemingly expedient to make sure the “people’s” vote is counted, the elimination of it would be the last straw in our attempt to keep fair and balanced elections. If you look into the history and purpose of the electoral college it is a good system.
Warning: The main groups pushing for the elimination of the electoral college are known communist, socialist or left-leaning groups. Why?
Because if they can capture the popular vote they have the ability to sway the mass majority of people in places such as L.A., Chicago, New York, etc. and the smaller states will never have a chance.
I cannot fully explain how it all works but if you will take some time to do your research through history and how it works I think it would help everyone to know why we use it.

  12. Brian G says:

I appreciate your message. Our King Jesus is still on His throne. No election will ever dethrone Him. And, our election in Him is sure. If only we knew this darkness in America would only last 70 years, but we have no assurance of this. The people have rejected God and want their own king, that’s how they got Saul. Even when they did that, God did not leave them. But they did reap consequences for their choices. I pray God will lead, use and bless those of us who still love Him. This world is not my home. America is not His chosen nation, although many believers live here. It’s time for us to clarify our saltiness. I believe persecution will be coming, both in big and little ways. The establishment will blame us evangelicals for the election loss. That’s OK, I blame them. Romney was not our David to be sent out against Goliath. The thing about democracy, I think, is that it really spreads the responsibility around among the populace for all our decisions, rather than concentrating it on a king or tyrant of some kind. So, it seems logical to me that God would likewise spread around His judgment, rather than concentrating it on the godless leader(s). Obama wants to spread the wealth around a little. That’s not all that’s going to be spread around. I fear for the millions of people who will lose jobs and income just to pay for Obamacare. Yet many of them voted for him. Perhaps Americans have been given over to their delusions to reap what they deserve for forsaking God in the first place. Fine, build your little tower in Babel there and see how far it gets you. Away from God, that is. They’ll be singing “I did it my way” while I’ll be singing “Have thine own way, Lord.” Pray that God will help me not have an attitude like Jonah did toward Ninevah, but rather one that is compassionate. That is quite challenging some days….

    • Anna says:

Yes it is true “they” are getting what they asked for and when it starts to fall on them they will be so shocked.and dumbfounded. God impressed my mind to add to my prayer list for HIS protection and guidance and not to be shocked in the event of a RE-election. At first the numbers were very encouragaing until all of a sudden it switched and FAST !!. Somewhere it is written that “the final movements will be rapid ones” just before the fall of the USA and before Jesus comes. We saw that last night in part. If there are millions of members of Grassfire Nation/action where were those votes? It amazes me that so many voted DEM. as if they are blind, deaf and dumb. The truth was before them as the nose on their faces for four years and still they voted for the same. They think they will get FREE “STUFF” but what they will get is loss of FREEDOM, strange gods, strange laws, and it will hurt ALL of us.
“Obamacare” is being paid in part by stealing 716 Billion dollars from MEDICARE. they keep calling Social Security and MediCARE “entitlements” when we have paid for years in each pay check for both of these insurances for our ‘old age’. Yes we probably will be in exile as the Hebrews were long ago. the main thing is to be ready for when Jesus splits the sky with a shout and calls the dead to arise first and then those who are alive and remain of HIS children, will be caught up in the air with them to go with Jesus to live forever in the home He went to prepare for us.where we will go through judgement and know “why” (answers) to all our quetions, and our tears will be wiped away by Jesus Himself. This is what is meant by the FIRST resurrection.1st Thessalonians 4:16,17,18. I truly pray to be part of that FIRST resurrection because the 2nd one will be the wicked to face the judgement. and eternal death along with satan and his henchmen (demons). Revelation21:7,8. Also 2nd Timothy 3: tells us where we are right now. So many are quoting John 3:16 but there is another verse that goes with it..John 3:17. It is through faith in Jesus that we have eternal life. Jesus paid the eternal price on Calvary in death but the OPEN TOMB and resurrection is what gives us eternal life.

    • Peony of Indiana says:

      good thoughts, thanks!

  13. Lyneil says:

What a welcome article. This gives me confidence. We must be a light in the world. Of course, it will help our cause when people start getting tax hikes in January and requests for proof of insurance from the IRS. And when they can’t get student loans for the programs they wanted because Obama has decided to end a particular industry, it should also help tip the scales. But it will get worse before it gets better. Until then, they asked for the government they’re getting.

    • Greg says:

All these things may happen, but do you really think the folks backing Obama are going to allow him to do all of these things and still allow elections to be held? It is quite possible that part of the darkness to come is the end of representative government and free elections.

      • Anna says:

AMEN to this comment. The end of representative government and free elections. The end of the FREE Enterprise way of life, the Constitiution, the Amendments to the Constitiution, Bill of Rights, our flag, religion, speech, assembly, etc. Probably the 2nd Amendment will go first and then the rest will topple like dominoes. Gone are the days of FREEDOM as we have known in the FREEST nation on planet Earth. We don’t know what lies in store for us who follow JESUS. We must pray for protection and strength to endure, search the scriptures to gain knowledge, understanding and WISDOM, to prepare for what ever comes into our future. God bless what is left of America and HIS people.

  14. Steve, thanks for your insight and words of encouragement. I was also amazed at some of the previous comments…they could just have easily been my exact words. I slept very little last night, pondering the future for our country and my children. Ultimately, however, we have to cling to Jer. 29:11.

  15. Jack Bridwell says:

Being a lifelong Georgian, Conservative, and hard core supporter of the Constitution I sat and watched last evening as the old south banded together, except for Florida of course, and supported the nearest thing we had to a conservative running. My disappointment grew as the evening progressed and it eventually became evident that the true believers in the cause were the only ones who really gave a darn about the future of our once great country.
I served in country Vietnam, as a Seabee, and experienced the vile hatred directed toward us when we returned, and the feeling, I believe, will return as we experience the next 4 years of leading from behind. Without a true Commander in Chief our place in the world will diminish and our role of leader of the free world will be gone. I’ve spent the day trying to find something to be upbeat about, but still haven’t found it.
As a “Monday morning quarterback” I truly feel that the main stream party ignored the grass root movement, AKA the Tea Party, in hopes of attracting some of the more moderates out there, a huge mistake in my opinion. Sorry to dump but it helps my feelings…
    Jack

  16. Craig says:

    Get Iowa to vote Republican

  17. Peggy Inserra says:

Thanks so much for your encouraging words! This was truly deposited into your spirit from the throne of God. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus and not the world. We should build and pray and bless! You have turned my sorrow into dancing!!

  18. IGGY says:

LET’S KEEP SHARING GOD’S WORD (THE TRUTH) AND BE READY FOR THE HARVEST (ALL THESE PEOPLE) WILL COME RUNNING TO OUR DOORS ASKING FOR PRAYER AND FOR HELP. LET’S SHOW LOVE AND MERCY AND HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT USHER THEM INTO GOD’S KINGDOM. “REJOICE, AGAIN I SAY REJOICE”

  19. Mark Gochnour says:

As you expressed with some many important points, the thing we must constantly remember is that God is sovereign even when bad things happen that in the short term seem really awful. As I see it, there are three potential outcomes – One that we are to learn from the current situation and move forward, look for and elect principled God fearing individuals who can articulate a true message at all levels; two, that people need to recognize that neither government nor elected individuals are where our true hope should ever be;and three, America is declining in this world because things are falling into place and the end is coming. Since we do not know for sure we cannot give up in the battle before us.

  20. Malissa Lamar says:

I was glad to read your message Steve and to see all the positive comments here. Yes we were dealt a blow last night but thankfully God will see us through when we place our faith with Him. I also agree with the lady who wrote that we are to pray for our enemies and what a struggle that is especially now, but I’m going to do my best too to follow the example Jesus set for us. May God Bless everyone in the coming days and our nation.

  21. Viviane Decker says:

The results of this election have been a sobering but humiliating time for reflection. Reflection as to ‘how could this happen’? ‘what could we have done better? The last week before the election I felt that The Election Was In God’s Hands now and we/I have done all I could do and honestly was simply tired and spent emotionally.

This morning I woke up feeling that God’s Plans are not Our Plans, God’s ways are not our Ways and so we have look to him. This was before I read Grassfire’s email.

I am a US citizen having immigrated to the US in 1967, having lived and witnessed 3 coup in three middle eastern countries. I love my country too much to aqueous to defeat. But I also know that the face and social structure of our society has changed (by subtle design) that enabled Obama to be re-elected.
No one in the conservative movement is addressing the fundamental issue. The change to has to come through education! We must work to educate our younger generation who are to inherit our country as to the fundamental principals of what made our country great; how and why it was created; these teachings are important for all immigrants coming here so they can understand these principals. We MUST work to give God his glory and honor him in public places, in schools and in our lives. This is the last bastion of Christianity in the world. I am from the middle east and Christians are being persecuted, churches are being burned and destroyed, where are our Senators and Representatives? where are the voices crying out?

And now to the Republican party. We continue to nominate compromising moderates in order to get more more votes thus compromising our moral (Godly) principals. But if we concentrated on education we may not need to compromise. We still have the House, But we must we must put the pressure on the fiscal disaster we are heading into.

I am frankly tired discouraged with man and his follies, I am a grand mother and this is not my future but my grand children’s.I know that God takes care of his people, he always has. through prayer we will survive and endure.

  22. Bernard Kaseman says:

    Dear brother Steve,
as a believer in Jesus Christ, I agree with all that you have said and felt after the outcome yesterday’s election. Through all of this God is showing us that He is in control and that He has far better plans for us who will obey Him.
I am encouraged even though I thought I would be depressed today. We have four children and soon we will have 13 grandchildren. What blessings He allows and we are so thankful.
Keep up your great ministry and encouragement.

    • Anna says:

May our Creator God and JESUS the Christ with the Holy Spirit bless you, your children and grandchildren. In my case: four children, nine grandchildren, 10 great grand children and three great great grandchildren who will never know the free AMERICA I was born into, raised, educated and lived all my life. It is painful to think of what they have to face in their future. The educational system is being destroyed daily in the public schools. Children have to be taught the Bible, prayer and the history at home now. They don’t get it in school. We have no idea yet of the outcome of last nights Re-election. So Prayer is our only hope and safety at this point. Study, pray and share our faith. God bless us all. Especially the children.

      • Kay Martin says:

Lovely Anna: I feel your pain. I too have a large loving family
that will suffer; BUT you know as I do that our home is not
here…remember we are just passing through. Our children
and their families when they KNOW The Lord God will see
your peace and love and ‘get it’ also. The pain Tues night
“for my children and theirs” was what my eyes were beholding when the Lord lovingly held me and tipped my face to His and said: “K, this is about Me. I love you and those you love. Be not afraid for you will not understand
this until we meet for All Eternity.” These are similar words
He spoke to the Disciples before He Died for The World.
Now, it is our time to listen and hear ‘ye Him’. Yes? Yes!

      • Susan says:

I think it would help me if Christians gathered together to celebrate the Free America that many of us enjoyed. I guess a funeral so to speak in memory of this once Great Nation.

  23. Tammy for Liberty says:

The outcome yesterday is exactly what the gop machine deserved. Every candidate on the ballot was pro-death except Virgil Goode. The record shows romney supported Planned Parenthood and increased their power in MA, plus he made money from aborted fetuses. He did not deserve to win and the gop did not deserve a victory for putting such a candidate in our faces. He was just as bad as their candidate 4 years ago. Nothing ever changes in that party. Rasmussen polling said that Ron Paul was the only one who could beat bo and yet the gop machine vilified and persecuted him at every turn. BTW, Ron Paul is pro-life despite what the party hacks say.

    • Jim, California says:

Absolutely correct. I could not vote for Obama under any circumstance, but I could not support Romney either. I finally wrote in Ron Paul, as the only candidate I could support with a clear conscience.

“Can one morally vote for the lesser of two evils? In a word, no. A basic principle of Judeo-Christian teaching and of the natural law to which the country was married by the Declaration of Independence
is that one may not knowingly do evil that good may come of it.”
      — Judge Andrew Napolitano

  24. ShirleySM says:

Why are you and others saying the people did not rise up and reject Obama’s statism? Why could it not be illegal voting? After all how many polls had problems with voting and how many were not accepting IDs to prove that they legally could vote and NO ONE in the Republican Party was willing to test this theory after all anyone with a brain knows how good the Liberal Progressive Dems are so good at voter fraud and this was the year to really put it to work! Everything I read in the last few weeks lead to this happening. Isn’t anyone curious as to how many illegal votes were voted?

    • Anna says:

I thank God that in our State we have to show picture ID before we can vote. and when we go to a doctor/hospital, get our driver’s license, enter college, cash a check outside of our own bank, etc. It does NOT hurt a thing to show it as some howl about showing ID to a police officer. That is only common sense to show ID. Be proud to have it and proud to show it. Can’t have voter fraud when you have to show your ID unless it is frauduent ID and no one knows. That could happen but not easily.

      • Kay Martin says:

Just a note: I MUST show my I.D. every time I make a deposit at my bank, and they have known me for a very
long time. To not require I.D. to vote (which I had to for the
registration) is just a ruse to allow all sorts of illegal people.

    • Susan says:

YES! I AGREE! Our President and his administration openly said that they rejected Voter ID and American Citizenship as requirements to vote in this country.
Shirley, did you read the article written by Eric Cantor listing forty ways that President Obama broke the law? You need to google this article.
How many times did the Democrats break the law at the Polls should be addressed as well as the laws broken by the President.

    • L. Gauger says:

Yes. I have wondered how many dead folks voted, also wondered how many states can be visited and voted in with “early voting”. Certainly would not be a problem to hit all the “swing” states.

  25. Kathryn Shiffrar says:

All I can say is: “Thank You”! This was what I needed to read. I knew the Lord must have something else in store for us, but — “What?” Well, with your knowledge of the Bible and etc., you explained it beautifully. Okay, so it’s more of a little hard living, more of living off the land if need be, and lots more of talking to the Lord. And a lot of faith. Thanks. ks

  26. Phillip & Jane Jones says:

Steve, this message was just what my wife and I needed after last nite.Thank you so much.

  27. Warnerharmer says:

Thank you for an appropriate and timely message. We need to focus on what God wants us to do from here on out. More spreading of the Gospel, as that will awaken more people than anything else.

  28. Machele Taliaferro says:

Wow. Last night I went to bed in tears, literally. Many of us had been praying and I sincerely believed we were rounding a political and spiritual corner. My dear friend, who is a relatively young believer, and I talked last night. He couldn’t understand why God would allow this.

Interestingly, he is the one who sent me your blog, and it was exactly what I needed to read. I shared the link on my Facebook and believe God used you to encourage many of us who were so discouraged after yesterday’s results.

    Thank you for sharing.

  29. Heather says:

I totally agree with and was really touched by this word.
context is so important in scripture.
We must pray and we must work hard.
We must live where we are and influence our culture.
    “if MY people…”

  30. Raymond Mars says:

Plain and simple we were robbed. There was so much corruption, illegals voting and getting away with it. We saw a Sheriff and his son arrested in S.C. for ballot box stuffing. Then the 2 polling place judges in Ohio arrested by U.S. Marshalls for allowing illegals vote, knowing plain well they were not allowed to vote. Obama knew the only way to win was to cheat and cheat he did..

    • Kay Martin says:

Raymond: YOU were robbed in your own mind. My life belongs to Jesus
Christ and cannot be taken or harmed “unless” that filters through my Lord’s fingers to get to me. God is NOT man that He would turn His back on His family, The Church, nor does He lie. IF you don’t know this God of the Bible, then this seeming tragedy is just for your benefit. Remember what you have possibly only heard: when Jesus Christ was hung on The Cross, all His followers fled, left Him all alone to go through Hell for us. BUT, He did send and still has the Holy Spirit to be the Comforter, Teacher just for the ones who answer His Voice “calling”. This is THE day.

  31. AT says:

It’s been a pretty discouraging day. I’ve been depressed and upset, not so much about specific political losses, but about what yesterday’s elections demonstrate about the views and values of the people in this nation.

Whether it’s because people don’t know their world history or have an understanding of economics and human behavior, whether it’s due to a dismissal of those lessons, or whether it’s pure apathy to anything that doesn’t make them feel good or accepted in the moment, it’s clear that too many people in this country have very different values than those that this country was founded on and built upon.

I was encouraged by your message, but I fear that we are following the same cycle God’s people followed in the Old Testament. We’re moving from a period of rest and blessings into idolatry and self-serving. We know that is followed by bondage and punishment (much like the exile you describe) before people will cry out for deliverance.

My question is… Are we to enter into a period of exile, or can we do something to pull our country and its people back from the brink? What can we do to prevent this slide, or is it too late?

    • Anna says:

Prayer is the only thing we have left at this point. Pray for the members of Congress. (House of Representatives and Senate) they are the power behind the decisions being made. and most of the problems. Except this so called president. After January 20 it could be a dictatorship. So pray for God to show us what to do and what to say and even HOW to pray.

      • Marvis says:

I don’t believe that prayer is the only thing we have left. We have the the ability to educate others. Whether it is someone at lunch or at a card game at the senior center, a daughter-in-law, a grandchild, a student we tutor, or a co-worker. We do not have to fuss or argue. As opportunities present themselves, we can make it clear that persons of a different political persuasion are not all bad and that they have much in common with the hearer, Gradually we can state our principles in a non-threatening manner. We can stop spending time playing computer games, texting and sending “forwards” to people who already agree with us, and look at and communicate with the persons around us. Many can stop sending hateful e-mails and silly jokes–all “forwards” and write their own thoughtful messages incorporating our principles and those we need to return to in this country. There is nothing ill-advised about sending a well-chosen article or quotation, but hateful speech and lies do more harm than good. There is plenty of truth to substantiate our points. We do not need doctored pictures, personal attacks, and lies. Some people we know need to hear our country’s history, because since there have been so many activists teaching their agenda in the history classes of our public school for the past many years, there is a dearth of knowledge of it.

        • Anna says:

Good comment. Thanks for the reminder of education and you put it very well. Education does not only come from books but shared experiences and knowledge. I will make it a point to remember it in my prayers and share it with others as the opportunity presents itself. Thanks again for this reminder..

      • Kay Martin says:

ALL here: “Joy comes in the morning AFTER sorrow has fulfilled its purpose.

  32. Trish Thurston says:

Thank you for your encouraging words! It helps to know that we are not alone. So many of us have hoped and prayed for Godly leaders for a very long time. It was very discouraging! We will continue to pray for Godly leaders, and that many in our nation will turn back to Him. As we struggle to understand what happened and why, we must let God be God, trust in His judgements, and be His faithful servants. even when our prayers appear to go unanswered. We are being tested. We can be thankful that it is only anther 4 years, and not 70. God has a plan and His purposes will not be thwarted. We have His many promises to rely on. He is faithful. Thank you for all your hard work. Peace be with you.

  33. lilly says:

    Dear Steve,
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. This was also a confirmation for me from the Lord as this was part of my daily reading the day before. I shared this with my friends last night and was very encouraged reading what you had to share. Again thank you and God bless.

  34. Kathy says:

Steve, this was a great post….I just said on Facebook, that I was feeling pretty blue on my birthday…today….but I do know that God is in control, and HE rules in the our lives…..he makes kings and breaks kings….we have been in exile for 4 years….and will suffer through 4 more…..God willing be RAPTURED in the interim….bringing a soon end to it all, delivering us to our permanent residence supreme for always with the one who died to save us!

  35. Calvin Herring says:

Thanks, Mr. Elliott. I have been trying since last night to reconcille myself to the fact of so many Americans turning away from our founding principles and christian teachings. However, I know that God is still in control, and we are tested from time to time. Your article helps even though I still cannot fathom how so many so called grassroot Americans miss the boat!! Just like those people in New York and New Jersey knowing a big hurricane was coming in and chose to stay behind. Some people just do not get it!!

  36. L. Lyons says:

Don’t you think the turnout was a little strange? Less than in the McCain election.

I find it more than odd. Just when in the postal process do you think the union employees took our early voter ballots and substituted them with Obama ballots?

Think this did not happen? Think again.

    • Gerald Roesch says:

Makes sense that there were fewer votes than for McCain. McCain had a brain. Ryan was selling snake oil and people have caught on to that. That’s why he didn’t even win his own state. Endure another four years if you must, or go to Canada with Rush Lymphnode. I endured eight years of having this country go down the tubes under the Brainless George W. The Supreme Court put BGW in office in 2000 and the computer company put him in office in 2004. You talk about stolen elections, the 1% of the1% are eating your lunch and you are giving them the Heinz catsup to eat it with.

  37. Gayle says:

Thank you so much for this posting! Absolutely wonderful. God is in control! Thanks for a solid “plan” on how to move on in spite of our defeat!

  38. S A Smith says:

I was interested, and amazed, that in the article and all the comments about it not one person mentioned the soon return of Jesus. He said when all “these things” come to pass to lift up our heads because our “redemption draweth nigh.” Considering the situation with Israel and so many other recent events, it is clear that prophecy is being fulfilled about the end of this age and Jesus’ promise to return. LORD, help us keep our eyes on You, as we strive to be a shining light in this dark world.
Thank you, Steve, for an outstanding article that challenges and encourages us at this sad time in our nation’s history – and for all you do every day.

    • Greg says:

      Yes, great observation.

For the End Times to come to fulfillment, does not a nation like the United States necessarily need to be marginalized and gutted of any global authority? Yes, it does. I have long maintained that this is exactly what Obama was tasked with: the complete the destruction of our nation from within by overwhelming the welfare roles and bankrupting us.

    • Anna says:

Apparently you did not read the notes from Anna. Jesus surely will come sooner than many expect.some are not even looking. I am Rejoicing and Looking for HIS soon return. Thanks.

  39. wilbur dobson says:

Excellent analogy. Christians are now a minority of exiled captives in their own
land. It may be that we’re being punished this way for the same sin as
the Jews….tolerating sacrifice of our children via abortion. Jer 32:35 is one
of many verses where God’s people are condemned for passing their children
    “through the fire”.

    • Gerald Roesch says:

If this land was going to be damned for anything it would have been damned for the kidnapping (a capital offense in the Old Testament) of Africans so that we can sit back on our white tails and watch them work. Grow up!

      • Anna says:

Talking about ‘passing through the fire”…What about what was done to the Native Americans? Their land, homes and even sources of food and clothing was taken from them because of GREED. Many times they were not even considered HUMAN but were treated worse than animals, tortured, made to dress and live like ‘whites’ and not even allowed to speak their own language and this land was THEIR land.
It is true many of the African ‘slaves’ were treated terribly and shamefully. Unfathomable to think of and It must have been extremely horrible to be taken from their families, homes, and country to a strange land, language, etc. But did you know that a lot of the Africans were stolen by their own fellow Africans for GREED and money.? check history. It is reported that Obama is not African American but he is mostly Arab and part white, .only part Kenyon, so where does that leave him? Go figure.

      • Peony of Indiana says:

slavery still exists, but now it is mostly a sex slavery, of young women all over the world, and even here!

  40. Debbie Hartz says:

I think that we do indeed need to build and plant and help our fellow Americans. We need to work for solutions. This morning when I got up I felt like several verses from Hosea applied: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. . .”
and also “…a people without understanding shall come to ruin.” Hosea 4:6a and 14c. (NIV) We need to know Scripture and we need to know Economics.

I teach Economics in high school and I teach English. As my students were preparing to vote, I suggested that they watch the first debate on TV. Some of my students did so. Afterwards some were talking about enjoying watching the debate. One student commented at the end of the discussion that occurred, “Well, they really both have the same position on things.” I was totally dumbfounded.

So. . . I feel that we need to pray for a revival. We also need to educate our friends, our students, and our relatives in friendly and encouraging ways. We need to help them to understand some economic realities. There really is something wrong with the Senate not producing a budget for three years. There is a problem when the President submits a budget and NO ONE votes for it. There is a problem when the national debt grows exponentially.

One of my relatives asked me how you know who to believe when there are so many conflicting messages out there.

Here is one video that I think we should begin to circulate. It was put out by the AICPA (The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants). Remember, these are the people we hire to make sure that financial statements are accurate and are not misleading. They produced this video to circulate to all the members of Congress so that our representatives and senators had good information about the national debt as they made decisions. After producing this video, they hand delivered them to members of Congress.

I think that this video is important for all Americans to watch to get a better idea of the true scope of our debt crisis. It’s just 10 minutes long. Somehow before the next elections, we need to lovingly help others to understand what we really are facing. Go to the following web address and watch this eye opening video. It may not be flashy, but it is honest and accurate. I would think that is more important. http://www.aicpa.org/advocacy/pages/cpasinsight.aspx

    • Anna says:

Interesting video. Thanks for sharing the information. Hopefully we may have another election but perhaps NOT. Time will tell.

  41. Nancy says:

Thank you Steve for your kind and thoughtful message this morning. I, like many others who have commented on here, spent a restless, sleepless night asking “why”. And was encouraged as I read it. There are many lessons to be learned from what happened yesterday. Perhaps more by the peole who voted Obama in for another four years than for others. They will begin to realize the lies and coverups and other dispicable things that have been going on are true and not just the mad ravings of the “terrorist” conservatives. And we shall be much more able to bear what is coming because we will have the God-given strength and courage to do so. It is going to require much strength and courage to get through what is coming. And we will learn to express more love and compassion in the face of disappointment and defeat.
God Bless our country and all of it’s people!

  42. J.Clark says:

    Scripture Appreciated!
Will fwd. to family and other mourners of the moment!
    Thanks.

  43. S. VanLaningham says:

Thank you so much for this……I so needed this today.

  44. LOUISE SHRUM says:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ENCOURAGING WORDS. I AM A CHRISTIAN AS WELL
AND I BELIEVE WHAT YOU HAVE SAID HERE AND I BASICALLY TOLD MY NIECE THE SAME THING AND IT WAS NICE TO KNOW YOU BELIEVED THE SAME WAY. I BELIEVE WE ARE LIVING IN THE LAST DAYS THE BIBLE SPEAKS ABOUT AND WE JUST HAVE TO HAVE FAITH TO BELIEVE THAT
ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND TRUST IN HIS WORD AND ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE

    louise827@gmail.com

  45. Cheryl Craig says:

I am a Christian and I know God has a plan. But right now I cannot see anything but disaster! I am so fearful of the next 4 years. Obama managed to do so much damage in less than 4 years I can only imagine what terrors he holds for us in the next 4. Right now I am feeling so very sad and hopeless. Someone actually said to me today that since Obama got reelected they would no longer be poor. With that kind of mentality is it any wonder he was reelected. God help us!

  46. marina Donovan says:

    Steve,

I have been in such sadness today. My 7 year old daughter keeps looking at me and asking “What’s wrong mom?”
I have Christian friends who are going to tell me that “These are the end times” and it says in the bible that “we will be living under a one world government”. I was so hopeful. Now I feel helpless, just helpless.

  47. Ann Thomas says:

    Dear Steve.

I was really depressed last night and woke up many times during the night felling so badly. I also questioned why our God would allow this to happen. Mitt Romney is not perfect but he is a good, honest man who, I believe, would have done a good job in leading us out of this mess. I do want to trust God, but after many months of prayers, by me and many of my friends, we were so sure that Romney would be elected. Your message has uplifted me and given me some hope. I just don’t know if we can make it through another four years of Obama. God Bless.

  48. Kevin says:

Let me tell you about prayer. Its empty words. I prayed to God, I’ve begged for his mercy, yet I received none. I’ve held my dead child in my arms because God didn’t answer my prayers to keep her from pain and suffering. I’ve watched this nation be torn apart because we pray to God to fix things for us. He’s not going to. Its time to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Praying to God is the conservative equivalent to liberals praying to government. You look to someone else to solve your problems.

Its time for war. Its time to fight, if you’re not willing to fight to win because you’re too “dignified” and “classy” prepare for defeat. The liberals in this nation are winning, because they have recognized and exploited the conservative weakness. That weakness is our civility. The time for civility is well past over. The liberals controlling the federal government are not going to go quietly into the night. They are going to kick scream and fight tooth and nail to beat us. If we are unwilling to collectively fight harder and more violently than they are, we lose.

The conservative America is all but dead. Backed into a corner like a frightened animal, will we attack for survival, or are we to “civil” to fight like we want to win? Our survival now depends on retreat to another land, or to fight like hell and truly put it all on the line.

Good and proper conservatives prefer to follow Christ, but Christ never said to lay down and be walked on, or defeated. God wants us to fight. God wants us restore his glory to this nation. He won’t do it for us. Its time for a nation wide resistance. Politics aren’t the answer any longer.

    • Kay Martin says:

Kevin: You got to hold your baby before someone took him from you. Mine
was taken only after they allowed me to see him through a plate glass. You are hurting. Have you ever ‘forgiven’ God, or yourself because your baby wasn’t saved to live or you couldn’t save the baby? Prayer to The One True God, His Son, thru The Holy Spirit is ALWAYS answered… mostly we don’t want to hear His Will in the matter, or we want ‘right now’ positive answer. I am glad you put words to your pain. IF you KNOW the Lord God, you only then will understand His Will, His Sovereignty, His Ownership of all that HE created. IF you don’t know Him, He is waiting for you to turn around and tell Him what is in your heart. (HE already knows; He just wants a relationship with you). THEN, He will never leave
      you or forsake you.

    • “The arm of flesh will fail you. Ye dare not trust your own.” Prayer is not to change God, but to change you. God doesn’t need to change. God sees the whole picture right into eternity. He knows that this life is nothing in length or in importance compared to eternity. When an infant dies, we are the ones who suffer, not the infant ultimately. It is carried into the presence of God where it will receive more love, peace and joy than we can imagine in this life. King David realized infants go to heaven, “…I shall go to him [in heaven], but he shall not return to me [here on earth].” (II Sam. 12:23b) He comforted himself in this truth. We should, too. I didn’t enjoy the accident I had 6 years ago, but as I look back on it, it is one of the important turning points of my life. Job said, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him…” (Job 13:15a) What is God “up to”? We’ll have to “stay tuned”. But He wants our cooperation. He never works alone, but prefers to work through us! This is an amazing truth given our natural weakness, foolishness and blindness.

  49. jill-jill says:

Hi Steve, yes I do agree w/ your thoughts on the election. The LORD said the same thing to me last night as I was CRYING over the results!…It is a time for us to PRAY hard and bless our president and our nation. GOD is still GOD and HE does have a big plan for the United States of America. Lets all keep our ears and eyes open to HIM and follow HIS directions diligently….we cannot go wrong w/ HIM on our side. Thanks again for all of your hard work and encouragement!

  50. Scot Zimmerman says:

The message in this letter is one of the reasons we lost the election. If we wear our religion on our sleeve, the GOP will continue to lose. I’m not saying we should become godless like the dems. But when we push God and social issues, many young people today view that as the GOP preaching to them. Most are not godless, but fear people in government pushing their beliefs on the citizens, even though that wouldn’t happen. That is a real fear I hear about when talking to many young people. The GOP shouldn’t ignore social issues, but that pot needs to be put on the back burner. Until that is done, like Ronald Reagan did, we will continue to lose ground. I know that someone will quote something from Reagan concerning God and social issues, but these clearly were not front and center for Reagan because the saw the greater threat of having the progressive cancer continue to infiltrate our nation. He understood how to defeat this threat. Pushing religion and social issues to the front is the wrong strategy.

    • Kay Martin says:

THE one HUGE issue, as it were, is that God is no longer revered, nor
wanted in American lives. He was at one time. You cannot separate our
being judged on THAT and the sinful Nation that wants to live in that sin and not be called on it. My Lord is being told He is not wanted, but our idols are
loved and we lay down our lives for those. Your post exactly explains why
we are being judged AS A NATION. Without your knowing, you ‘hit the nail’
on the head. I’m sorry you were needed to explain to those who don’t see
      the parallel.

    • Maybe we just need to be converting and discipling more young people so that what delights the heart of God also delights theirs. The answer is not in politics but in godly character, and the Church of Jesus Christ needs to make this its focus in our nation. When the Church abdicates or is incapable of carrying out its role in society, there is no effective substitute. The Church is the moral influence every society needs even though all will not personally accept its gospel message. Sin is costly. It dissipates revenue. It erodes material prosperity. When society really GETS this truth, it won’t mind our positive influence. And, by the way, every person has an interest in good character. For example, the thief doesn’t want you to steal from him! The murderer doesn’t want you to murder him! We need God’s perspective on both the routine and critical matters of life. HOW we present His perspective may be more at issue than THAT we present it. And we also need to teach young people how to make wise decisions. That’s part of rearing children. Many 18-21 years old may not have had this training…and most of us who are older adults need refresher “courses” on a regular basis.

    • Elizabeth Couture says:

Please read your history…not out of textbooks. Real history. Our Founders based everything they did on God. They wore their “religion” on their sleeve, and what did we get? The longest lasting republican form of government operating under the same constitution in history!!! We have pushed God and moral and social issues to the back of the pack and what have we got? More chaos, destruction, fear and societal meltdown than you can shake a stick at.
For those who say we must have “separation of church & state” and that our Founders were pretty secular and wished us to continue that legacy do not realize that out of the 250 people that comprised the Founding Fathers 90% (yes 90%) of them were members of protestant churches and repeatedly spoke of God and his principles in their personal and political writings.

  51. sam mohareb says:

I do not reside in US, yet I look at USA as the beacon of light to a dim and unhappy world and Americans are the salt of the earth. Americans I grew to believe are the first to rush to help, extend hand even to far away places even to nations that despise what Americans stand for. Yet, US welfare meant too much to me. I am connected to far beyond continental US and I read and communicate with people around the world. What Americans who voted Obama for another term are totally unaware of the danger of this man in the office for another four years and what would result in adding more radical and socialist policies to his agenda and addition of more Muslim Brotherhood staff in the White House. This man has no shame and masses went like sheep for his support.
Romney was challenged because he is Mormon faith while Obama with questions about his practising faith, loyalty to US and his long affiliation to Marxist tutors. Who paid for his tuition through the years? Was it Saudi Arabia that groomed this evil man to get to this position with their financial support. After all said and done, would America remain America the beautiful!!

  52. I appreciate your hopeful message Steve. Even though the election was a huge disappointment, I take great comfort in knowing that ultimately God is in charge, and not Obama. I too am thankful for the direction the Bible offers. Even though there are sure to be tough times ahead, this is not a time for us to give up or tuck our tail behind our legs. Thank you for all you do!

  53. Paul hulen says:

Thank you for the inspirational message. I was very sad to see mr. Obama re-elected. Nothing i know is going to change God’s plan. Although hard to swallow i realize he had something else in mind. For America. Thank you sharing the verse. I often recite that verse. But hadn’t as you stated thought about it in that context. One that has given me alot to think about today is 2 chronicles 7:14 if my people which are called by name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will i hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land.

  54. Mike Altrudo says:

Your comments are well taken, BUT enough is enough! It is time for the Republican Party to get some backbone and take up the fight. Trying to be civil, just, and right against people who will do and say anything is a losing battle. Have we not learned anything from the last 2 elections!! We need candidates who are not afraid to get in a liar’s face! I plan to leave the Republican Party and register as an Independent. The RP has gotten so weak that they are equally responsible for the demise in this “Great” country, which is coming. It is a sad, sad day in American history.

  55. Paul hulen says:

One thing that i tend to believe is the American people don’t want a godly man in office. 15 million fewer voters. Wow.

  56. E. Robert Hosbach says:

Last night about 9:30 without knowing the outcome I got down on my knees and prayed to God to not let this happen – but it did. I can only trust that He has a larger plan and that this does not give me a reason to surrender. I am an ex-Marine and I don’t understand that word. Somehow, at some some time, we must take back our country…God bless America!

    • Kay Martin says:

He does have a greater plan…as He did after 9/11. I am thrilled you under -
stand. He alone has the pay-grade to make these Wise and Superior decisions.

      • “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts then your thoughts.” (Isa. 55:8,9) “And Joseph said unto them [the brothers who sold him into slavery], Fear not [he had become prime minister of Egypt]: for an I in the place of God [i.e. I'm not your judge, God is]? But a for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” (Gen. 50:19, 20) “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counselor?” (Rom. 11:11:33, 34) The prayer I often prayed as a child was, “God is great. God is good. Let us thank Him for our food. Amen.” …He stil is!

  57. Stefanie says:

Thank you for writing this. It has seemed eerily quiet today after receiving all of the e-mails yesterday filled with hope for the future. Your e-mail has been the only one to come today regarding the election outcome. Being a Christian, mother and a physician, it has been hard today thinking about the future which lies ahead. Thank you for your words. I will stay strong in Him and follow His Word.

  58. Patty L says:

I wonder why fewer Republicans voted this year than in 2008? Did the polls convince them that Romney would win? We need to find out why, and make sure those voters do vote the next time. And maybe we should think about an amendment for term limits – 6 years for President. Then he (or any President) doesn’t spend that last 2 years running for re-election. Also term limits for Congress. It was never meant to be a full-time, life-long job.

    • Peony of Indiana says:

there are some reports that votes were stolen, especially in the swing states, and marked as democrat-
this reminds me of the last election in Iran, where people were sure the conservative man won, but the same tyrant took office declaring he won, and there were many riots.
At least our country is showing faith in God, that He allowed it for His reasons?

  59. Gina says:

Thanks so much for the encouraging message. It was just what I needed to hear after getting up this morning and feeling like I had a hangover! I believe we need to pray for revival, like another Great Awakening, for our country. May God accomplish His purposes through us in this trying time.

  60. mark holderman says:

Thanks Steve for some timely and encouraging words. Last night I got down on my knees and asked God for forgiveness for the things I have done and the place in my life I had taken myself apart from Him. My desires and wishes had not been His but mine. As I went to work this morning I ask Him again to remove any discontent and ill feelings and give me a smile and kind words to say today and to be able to embrace our future with hope. I am reminded that He is God and He IS in control. All we need do is trust HIM! God bless the USA!!!

  61. Esteban Cafe says:

When those who VOTE for a living outnumber those who Work for a living, the Republic is kaput. That is, you will definitely need God and a miracle to overcome the math. I think you need it now.

Otherwise, we can all join the Obama Phone Lady and get in line for the goodies and, when enough of you Americans stop working and instead join that long line vying for freebies, we can all watch the demise of the once great USA. Sadly.

Then you can turn fully to the dark side and join the EU as we all settle into the miasma that is socialism.

  62. Julie Garcia says:

I too have struggled all day with grief, anger, discouragement. How our
country can let this administration get away with so much- Benghazi, Fast and Furious, government take over of industries, etc. It is disheartening. My prayers went unanswered and my faith was shaken a bit….until reading your blog Steve. After being down all day, I feel I can pick myself up and carry on knowing that I must build, plant and above all, keep praying. THANK YOU STEVE.

  63. Steve, there’s one word you left out…”repent”. In the 1700′s America had the First Great Awakening which ultimately ushered in our nation. Then, in the 1800′s we had the Second Great Awakening. Where was the Third Great Awakening in the 1900′s? Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet. Why?…because he like Jesus wept over the sins – not of the heathen world – but of God’s people. I am now 60 years old, and I have seen much change in the church let alone in the country. The church is the key to the country. When the church is healthy, it is the mightiest organization on earth. But like a car without out an engine, she has to be pushed from place to place when the Spirit is no longer her Divine Dynamo! 70 years in exile was a very stiff chastening, but it taught Israel to never again commit blatant idolatry with all the immoral acts which she originally learned from Moab. Maybe we need to identify the Baalims of our day and deal firmly with them. Church discipline seems to be a thing of the past. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. Politics will never be the true answer. (By the way, I won my election, and only by the grace of God and the application of faith, diligence and responsibility on my part.)

  64. Laura says:

Wow, what a great blog post. Thank you for it. It really encouraged me on a very dark day like today. I shared it with family. I am a committted Christian but the outcome of the election had me wondering if the USA is under God’s judgment. Your blog puts a different perspective on it that this may have been God’s plan in the first place and that we should rebuild. Thank you and God bless you!

  65. Sandy says:

I, too, have felt sick at heart all day today. I, too, have prayed that God will not abandon all of us because of what some of us have done. We need to keep praying for this country of ours to awaken and through God’s help become the beacon for freedom and truth it once was and can be again.

  66. John O'Neill says:

I’m reading the second volume of Manchester’s biography of Churchill. We can all empathize with this great man – he saw the dangers of Hitler’s fascist regime, he cried out from his wilderness at Chartwell but nobody listened. It took the crisis of German troops advancing on France for Britain to realize he was right. What will our crisis be – the slow decline of a once-great country, or the “Greek event” when bondholders realize that our debt is unsustainable, or when Iran detonates a nuclear weapon over Tel Aviv?

  67. Utopia says:

I say, we play the say game as the other guys. We rent a 12 passenger van, pick up some people of foreign descent, tell them that we will pay them $10 every time they vote. Then we drive around to different early voting places, and tell them to vote straight Republican. If you get 500 people voting 10 times, in every single district, well we could actually off set the voter fraud from another party.

  68. Steve, Amen…Amen…and Amen… Thank you for your thoughts and actions. You have reminded us all that the strength of this great nation depends upon the People who take care of themselves, their families, schools, churches and communities. And, when these people have taken care of themselves, they are absolutely willing to take care of others. It is the way our communities are strengthened and your words show the way and give hope that we all must focus on truly what is important and those things we can influence and impact today. Which is ourselves, families and communities. The American Dream stands clear and present for anyone and all who seeks to build, plant and pray. Mitt Romney did just that with his parting comments that he would pray for the President and this great nation. When there are millions of us, which I call The Faithful Majority taking care of themselves and others, their leadership will attract those who desire the same for themselves. And We the People will rise above any political party affiliation and focus on what is truly important. Thank you Steve and Thank You God.

  69. Thank you for all you have done for this election for Romney. I was so sad all night. I just can’t beleive the people voting Obama back in when he hasn’t done anything for this Country. And doesn’t even care about Isreal, and hasn’t done anything about our guys getting killed in Lybia. I sure enjoyed your message it helped me more than you know.

  70. Megan says:

Loved this post! We chose Jeremiah 29:11 as my daughter’s life verse. Though, I can see how it can be used to paint a picture that everything is going to be coming up roses, I see it as an encouragement that, ultimately, God’s plans are to accomplish His good will in our lives, and we can be used by Him for good works. We may look at our circumstances, and be grieved! We may never see it turn around in what would appear to be our favor, just as many never saw the end of that 70 year exile, I’m sure. But, God says He’ll use these circumstances to accomplish His good purposes, if we choose to make His Kingdom our primary concern. We’re going to have trouble here on earth. It’s encouraging to know that, ultimately, we this world is passing away, but we have the ultimate victory in Christ! Store our treasures in heaven. Valuing what God says is of worth. I am glad for the perspective that you lend, in that we should continue on as God called His people to do, years and years ago, in their exile. Not stockpiling and panicking, or worrying in general. Not throwing in the towel. But, blessing others, wherever we are! We’re in escrow now on a house, and I read a comment on an article on a conservative secular site, where the poster said they weren’t going to buy or do anything “big” for a long time. That comment, coupled with the stock market plunge, and the general feeling of despair we all seem to feel to an extent, I was starting to feel fearful! But, you’ve pointed out to us again, to be set apart. Carry on as the Lord has called us to do, and not despair. He has a plan, even in this! Sad for what’s happening, but SO thankful this is no surprise to our awesome, mighty, sovereign God! Lets be encouraged, pray, and seek Him!

The pain I feel today is the same as the day my child died in my arms. I am just beginning to build a business on our property which will aid people and the land toward greater health-perhaps even a haven against the insanity. All day, I have wondered if I should continue to pursue this venue or quit- due to anticipated government interference. These thoughts were very helpful toward making a decision. Since I am 50- something, I won’t have 70 years, but perhaps my 20- something children will have a legacy to share with our society- when\if it comes to its senses.

  72. Jared says:

Last night made one thing clear to me: We reap, politically, what we sow, culturally. May we each be inspired to cultivate faith in God, love for family, and gratitude for freedom!

Exactly what I needed for today!!!

  74. Tom says:

Almost didn’t read the email. Thank God for your comments. They were very encouraging. I’ve been living in Habakkuk 3:17-19 – I will rejoice in the Lord, I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.

We need revival, repentance, a turning to the Lord. Lord help us to cleanse our families and lives of all things evil and to live in holy relationship with you.

  75. Ronald Stupka says:

Unfortunately the Republican party is unable to put forth the “best ”
available candidate.until that happens and the party realizes the way to win elections is not negativity but positive programs that everyone is able to embrace we are destined to look back and say exactly what is being said today….

  76. Michaelyn says:

Thank you. Your letter gives me comfort and inspiration. Reading some of these messages prompts me to hopefully give comfort to all of those who have posted messages and are still overcome with grief. Pray daily these words and may God give you his peace.
‘My God I believe, I adore, I hope, I love thee. I ask pardon for those who do not believe, nor adore, nor hope, nor love thee. I pray for the moral integrity of the United States. Jesus protect and save the unborn.’

  77. Dylan Romoletti says:

Last time I checked, this great nation wasn’t made up of ONLY Christians. It is a nation of ALL religions. It isn’t a nation of ONLY white men. It is a nation of ALL races and nationalities. It isn’t a nation of ONLY straight people. It is a nation of ALL people, straight AND gay. That fact is lost on the Republican Party. That fact is repulsive to the “so far from Christian” hate filled Tea Party. That is why you fail.

    • Mary S. Rose says:

I do not know what nationality you are or what country you are from but America’s founding fathers set up the Constitution based upon Christian principles taken from God’s word, the Bible. We are not Hindu, Muslim or any other. Yet, because of our belief of freedom of speech, etc. many cultlures and ethnicities have come into our country. We have embraced them. BUT, we were not supposed to change, those coming into this land of freedom are supposed to change. You are also wrong about the Tea Party. As with any large group of people, there are those on the fringe who become violent or despicable in some way, however, the majority of Tea Party members are kind, loving people who deeply care about this country and the direction it is going.

  78. Cinthia says:

I know it is not what most of us want as a President but we must take it as a reminder that GOD is still in control. Many are still allowing the world to take control of their life. They being in the world. There isn’t enough love as the first church was in the book of Acts. No matter the color of your skin or economical standard we must show love to all. As a whole this country needs to repent. As a country we must see more of the Holy Spirit as the Book of Acts. Our goal should be to see more saved including the President. Pray that he will be save and fill with the Holy Spirit andn desires to be Christ like. We must stop condeming him. I am positive that we are on the wrong side ourself. God can change anybody. Not all says they are Christ follower. If GOD can change Paul the Christian executor he can change the President. We must pray. The message from Jesus in Matt 4: 17 was to repent. This shoud our motto as a country. If anybody doesn’t think they need to repent is the child of satan. We all have to repent. This is the way are to succeed. We need to repent as whole country daily and have special prayers. This is only the beginning of calaminty in this country. We are not loving one another. Nehemiah was brokenhearted when he learned of the desolation of Jerusalem. He pleaded before GOD, confess his sin and sin of the people. God open the way and the walls and gates were built. The spirit of deep repentance. Sorrow even if you don’t understand or think you in error. Repent America. Then God will hear and bless our country. Please caution in judging but go to pray.

  79. Jon Stanford says:

Steve, Thanks for sharing this Word. My own meditations have been hanging out in Romans 13 this week, wondering if the present appointment is a judgement on our nation for our departure from our founding (Scriptural) principles. That line of inquiry really falls in line with the message that the exile WAS the plan. I never cease to be amazed at the way God uses different aspects of His Word to reinforce His message. We need a revival. If we become renewed in our spiritual state, our politics will naturally reflect it. May we use our time in exile to full advantage.

  80. Jim C says:

I’ve never heard so much horse hockey in all my life. We lost because we ran a loser. Romney ravaged every opponent during the primaries but wanted to be the nice guy when it really mattered. He, Romney, was and still is a liberal. We ran a liberal against a liberal and, as we all know, the liberal with the most to hand out will always win.
We have let illegals overrun this country and they are voting. They are dipping into your pockets in so many ways and liberal politicians who want their votes are not only letting them do it but encouraging it. These politicians that YOU sent to Washington DC to represent YOU are making laws that allow illegals to get driver’s licenses, go to college, get food stamps, welfare and health care all paid for by you. And YOU keep sending them back to represent YOU over and over. Can you expect anything else? THEY ARE MAKING FOOLS OF YOU.
We have let the central government take control of our educational systems in this country and then we wonder why our children can’t figure out what is in their best long term interests. Our children know more about how to put a condom on a cucumber than they do about how to balance a checkbook. Their papers aren’t corrected in red ink anymore because we don’t want anyone’s feelings to be hurt.
We have allowed the national government take over our access to health care then wonder why they are willing to let grandma die to save a few bucks, make it constitutional to kill babies in the womb and pay for birth control for Sandra Fluck.
We sat idly by and let FDR take money from us at the point of a gun if necessary to put into an account (Social Security which the politicians thereafter raided at their whim), as a hedge against old age dependence upon our children thereby aiding and abetting the breakup of extended families.
Since the civil war the central government has been getting ever stronger and local governments, where the power should reside, have been getting weaker to the point where we now, instead of planning for natural weather events and relying on each other, we beseech FEMA for aid when they strike and a governor who should be taking charge and giving orders is seen hugging and fawning over a president who had done nothing to lessen the suffering of those affected.
This all sickens me. We have only ourselves to blame. There have been millions and billions of prayers said for this nation but so far those prayers have not helped. The lord gave you and me the ability to deal with this coarsening of our culture and rush toward the devil. When are we going to get up off our duffs and do something about it?
We have to educate others, organize against professional politicians, campaign for the rights of states and men, vote out incumbents, read and understand the constitution and vote. We have to quit being nice guys and start using the tactics used against us.
We have to starve the beast. Just think, if even 1% of taxpayers withheld and refused to pay income tax how much that could do to change this country. Those people could not be stopped. The government could not incarcerate 1% of its population.
Just think, if in each of the next three elections half or more of the incumbents who ran were turned out of office what that would tell the rest. The House of Representatives and the Senate would both get a good scrubbing.
Just think, if only 5% of constituents wrote to their representatives demanding they change their behavior what that would do to bring things back into line with a God fearing nation. Most representatives profess to be Christians so let’s hold them to it.
These are all things that each and every one of us could do and would have a huge impact if we could all get together to do them. These things would not take much effort or courage but so far we Christians have not gotten our act together. Isn’t it about time?
I encourage civil disobedience and holding our representative’s feet to the fire to get our country back.

  81. Scott Yarnes says:

Your headline reads four more years. You are dead wrong! You have seen the end of the Republican/Tea or any other party being in power other than the Democrats, this B..S.. is here to stay!. You blew it this election with your stand on abortion and gay marriage (both of which are here to stay)! Why do you want to base your platform on things that really have so little affect on your lives? Are you morally affected? If you are, get over yourselves and stand up for the things that matter in your life. The Republicans alienated both women and gays whom could have turned this into a Republican win and turned this country back in a direction of greatness. Did your stand on these two issues really represent the majority of your parties views or just your moral agenda? At this point how do you expect to vote out a party that believes in big government and entitlements to to a population where “47%” live on the backs of the people working hard for a living? Why would the “Majority vote to lose their jobs or their handouts? You have just witnessed the end of a Democratic Society in the USofA .We in the next 4-8 years will end up bankrupt and divided (USSR/Greece?). If you don’t believe this and/or witness and/or participate in a revolutionary war then you have your head in the sand and you deserve the hand you dealt yourself! Me myself I am ready!

  82. Hi Steve,
Yours is the best commentary of the day.
    Godspeed,

  83. Chris Derick says:

Steve–To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. I am, however, most disappointed in the Republicans. They continue to run hard right candidates in a largely moderate country. Religious beliefs must be personal and when they are put in the face of a growing, secular society it is off putting. We will lose every time. If we continue to run candidates from the religious right talking about gay issues and abortion, we will lose! I am not saying this is right, it just IS. If we want to have some influence on the Supreme Court we need to be elected. Keep your religious and bedroom views to yourself and get elected. Again, I am not saying this is right. It just is the way things are. We can ride our principles into oblivion or we can live our principles and get elected.

    • wilbur dobson says:

      Chris Derick,
In the current environment your statement may be correct.
But if we had a strong Christian leader like Jerry Falwell
promoting his “moral majority” agenda we could remain true
to God even while winning elections.

  84. wilbur dobson says:

2 Cor 4:8 fits our present situation, as we know God is in control::

we are perplexed, but not in dispair.”

    Steve
Your post was an encouragment to me on a day I have spent mostly in mourning with a black band around my arm. i will read the Scriptures you referenced and be reminded to build and to live a life of light in a dark and perverse generation.
Thank you for your godly perspective.

  86. Mary S. Rose says:

Thank you, Steve. Your commentary was food for thought. Like the majority of those who have commented here on your blog, I, too, feel discouraged, sad and depressed wondering how we can endure another four years. And … not knowing at the end of these four years how much our country will be shredded by Obama’s far-left, liberal, progressive, socialist agenda. I am scared, not only for myself, but for my family and friends. May God help us as we strive to come in line with His will and the direction He is taking us!

  87. Steve, Thanks for this message. I wanted to provide hope and encouragement on my blog today, but I found yours and decided to share it with my readers instead. We need to remember that God is in control and has a plan. Thank you, again.

  88. Beth durham says:

I am doing a lot of soul searching today after seeing exactly how far away from God this nation is. The only ones to blame are ourselves as Christians. We have allowed our hearts to grow cold and our light dim. Forgive us Lord and have mercy on us. Pour out your Spirit upon your people and renew our hearts and strength.

  89. Nannie says:

The evangelicals stayed home – they could not vote for a muslim or a mormon…that was the choice they saw.

    • Susan says:

Mark, I believe your number 3 outcome is the correct choice. In the early summer of 2008, I was listening to Obama during a campaign speech when I was distracted by thoughts of chores to be done. I stood up, took a few steps, and God spoke two words, PAY ATTENTION. I turned around and sat down to listen. You see, I really knew nothing about Obama. My spirit felt so uncomfortable as I listened to his campaign speech. As a result, I began a journey of a three month Research Study to be educated about Obama’s background including his friends and mentors, his political agenda, etc. Ultimately, I was left shocked and in a state of disbelief . How could someone so anti-American in his beliefs get to be a candidate as our Commander-In-Chief ? This new information eventually led to my desire to study Revelation. I just finished studying Daniel and Revelation with a Bible Study Group. No one knows the exact time of our Lord’s return but I am now inclined to think it is not as long as 70 years. I think it is more apt to be sooner than later when you look at prophecy already fulfilled and the chaos abroad.
When I realized during the election results that Republicans lost, I went to my prayer room to pray for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. I am so ashamed of the poor treatment that he has had to endure by President Obama. He must feel that Israel no longer has any friends. I am disappointed that Jewish Americans express a lack of compassion and connection to Israel..

    • Susan says:

Actually the choice was either voting for a Patriot who believes in our Constitution and supports the ideas of our Founding Fathers who created this great nation or a person who rejects the ideas of our Founding Fathers such as capitalism but supports redistribution of wealth as did Hitler, who does not see this nation as Great but as a bully to other countries, who relates more to Communist or Marxist beliefs, who believes that America should not be a Free Society but under the control of the government. How could a person who harbors such beliefs be a contender as Commander-in-Chief of the FREE WORLD anyway? Obviously, we do not vet these candidates properly in order to protect the freedoms that Americans enjoy.
We are a Great Nation who GOD has blessed tremendously because we used to honor HIM. Yes, returning to honoring GOD was the only adjustment this nation needed.
Why would we even consider a candidate who wants to radically transform America? America does not need to be radically transformed because we are the greatest and most powerful Nation in the world. But over the last four years we have stopped being the leader and now we lead from behind. Consequently, other countries now see us as weak. Well, we used to be the GREATEST. We are still in the stages of transformation. What will happen to this country, now that voters have chosen the direction to fully transform America? Only GOD knows!

So, I can understand not voting for BO. Not voting for Romney was simply ignorance and bigotry. It’s to bad so much false information was out their and perpetuated by ignorant and bigoted people. Those individuals have no buisness complaining if they are unhappy at where we sit today. This was barely 3% win for BO. Hardly a mandate, but he won. Childishness, imaturity, ignorance and bigotry are to blame for the further damage coming to this country.

  90. Pushpavati Amin says:

Great article Steve. And the readers comments are also very reassuring. It is such a wonderful feeling to know that we have so many God loving people who are ethical, moral and who love this country (Unlike the couple who occupies the White House). Their faith in God and their sincierity will never be over looked by the Almighty Lord who sees, hears and knows everything. For some unknown reason (God alone knows) right now the power is in the hands of these corrupt, immoral, lying, incompetent people. (The first presidential debate was such an eye opener). When the weight of their bad deeds will become heavy these misguided bunch of winners will be crushed under the weight of their own wrongdoings (in this case lying, incompetence and blaming others for his own failures which the President does). God always helps those who have faith in Him and are following the righteous path. Let us not forget, “Good” always prevails and wins. This great country will revive sooner or later due to our collective Faith in God. By God’s Grace this will happen very soon and most probably before the completion of the “4 more years.”

The voters will realize they have been lied to. The people who voted for Obama will very soon see the effects of rising prices, shrinking pay checks, high unemployment, long lines at the gas stations and many hardships. They will be forced to wake up from their delusion and see the realty.

This is how I intepret the quotations in this article. Without depending on Government handouts we will have to work hard, build up businesses, create jobs and try to improve our own financial situation. We have to spread the good old values among our people and build a stronger GOP base to take the country in the right direction. We will have to put a strong candidate for 2016. And we will pray to God for revival of this great country and have Faith in Him.

Thank God for President Obama and his victory on 11/6/12 despite the money with which the 1% of the 1% tried to buy this country! The Tee Ball Party reminds me of those who “won” the French Revolution. All they need is a guillotine and a few heads to roll and they will be happy. Their god is not the Father, it is a fragile “success” that is put out by the devil to catch the unsuspecting.

  92. Steve, Thank you for your message of encouragement.
I shall forward it on to family and friends.

Great message. However, your resolution of the problem remains vague. Was that on purpose? When I think of places of refuge during our”exile” for 70 years I think of the so-called “covenant communities as in Couer d’Alene Idaho or Safe Haven, Utah and the various communities of sequestration promoted by Joel Skousen across the land. We have to be SOMEWHERE doing all these Biblical injunctions and there needs to be specifics. I would suggest that we all do some soul searching as to where we are to go about our business unabated by the prying, all -searching eyes of the Homeland Security/FEMA/NASA people and their soon to be 30,000 drones flying in the not-so-friendly skies anymore. “Tent Cities,” “White Cities,” and “Girl Scout Camps” could be the alternatives to the ubiquitous BLM detainment centers scatted throughout the US. If we don’t place ourselves somewhere, THEY will for sure. Think about this. It is fast becoming a reality. They did it to scores of thousands of Japanese and Germans in WWII right here in the “Home of the Brave and the Land of the Free.” What makes you think that we don’t have that in store for us, too? We need to confab over these alternative futures awaiting the vast majority of us, Steve.

  94. June Elliott says:

Steve: Thanks for this encouraging blog. Your thoughts helped give me a better perspective on what seemed like a catastrophe in the dark hours. We have let too much time pass in useless criticism of the President. Now is the time to be positive. Now is the time to educate the electorate on our message. We have the truth that will lift them out of the slavery of government control. Let us frame it in culturally relative terms, and go into the places that the Progressives have called their own. Let us occupy our territory, our city, our neighborhood. Let us make the most of our exile, and, like the Jews in exile, become the innovators, th creators, the change agents in our society.

After a long Research Project in 2008, I soon learned a great deal about Candidate Barack Obama. I spent the next four years trying to educate American voters. Democrats did not care to learn. They were going to vote Democratic even if Obama grew horns.
Unfortunately, many Hispanic Americans and Latino Americans have been lied to in regards to the Republican Party. It is very unfortunate because many Hispanic and Latino Americans share the same values as the Republican Party. Christians must reach out to these people with Godly Love.
Remember, Obama offered FREE STUFF to illegal aliens. He wanted their vote regardless of their lack of citizenship. This Administration and the Minority Leaders in America made it clear that they did not approve of voters showing identification at the Polls. (In addition, college students only had to show a $0 utility bill to vote with an address of their student union! Talk about opening doors to Voter Fraud!)
The illegals do not understand that America is broke and can not afford to give away FREE STUFF. In comparison to the country from which they just escaped, America looks RICH and a large majority of Americans live RICH. Unfortunately, they will learn No Jobs No Free Stuff. Now it becomes difficult to take away FREE STUFF. WE ARE IN GOD’S HANDS NOW.

I gave up trying to read all the messages; but I am discouraged also by the election. God did not intend for these results anymore than HE did for 9/11/2001. A response by Viviane above caused me to respond. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it is that of an oncoming train. The train is called “fiat or paper money..” Do you all realize that we now have 3 times the federal reserve notes that we had 4 years ago (that is triple m1 and m2 money supplies)? All QE1,QE2,and QE3 do is prolong the crash by keeping the bubble (dollar bubble) up in the air a little longer. Do you realize that we are about to be destroyed by inflation? Do you realize that every fiat money (paper) that has ever existed has failed or gone bankrupt? I think that we all know that BHO is a very immoral person, and M. Romney has been a very good person. But our population majority just turned stupid. Like after Moses divided the waters, and people started making the gold idol. Most of our population does not know the difference between good and evil; right or wrong,
or Christian and non-Christian. It is a shame. I hope you all continue to try and act good; but please protect yourself by buying silver or other commodities. The financial crash that we will have will come very fast and unexpected. We cannot continue to pay off fed. securities with printed money. God bless you all and good luck! Grassfire: please make a bumper sticker just like Obama’s “forward”; but it will say ” Backward-” Thanks

    • Susan says:

Val, you ask some very good questions. Did you ever ask yourself, “What is Obama’s agenda”?
President Barack Obama was a student of Sal Alinsky, Frances Fox Piven and her late husband, Richard Cloward. All of them are anti-American, sixties Radicals. Under their instruction, students learn that you must first economically collapse America in order to create the perfect Utopia.

Thank you so much Steve. I have felt as if I am in exile all day and going through the grieving process. I have had to be strong for my family today. My 13 year old son came into my room this morning, crying because he knew what had happened to the Nation last night. I explained to him that what has happened is like what Esau did with Jacob- Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of pottage. I have shared your message with everyone on my e-mail list and am looking at this in a whole new light.
Thank you again for sharing this “True Hope” with all of us. May God continue to bless you, your readers and the United States of America

Thanks for your encouraging words and the Scriptures you used. I think God answered our prayers, but not the way we thought He would. I think the “Church” has been asleep for quite some time and we would have gone back into our comfort zones too quick. We need to press in as never before and be bold in our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!!! Jesus is my King and I will never give up on Him or His WORD!!!

  98. Ray & Nancy says:

What an inspiring message..We must remember that our awesome GOD is in control even when it appears He is not…Let’s all pray for our country and that true revival will come and turn us back to the ONE TRUE GOD…

  99. Sharron says:

Dear Steve, I am surprised by your interpretation of Jeremiah 29. The exiles were not “pushed” out of Jerusalem, they were carried away by God’s decree for their idolatry. They had refused to obey his commandments and refused to repent even when warned over and over again. As ch 25:4-11 explains: “Turn now, each of you, from your evil ways and your evil practices, and you can stay in the land the LORD gave to you and your fathers for ever and ever. Don’t follow other gods to serve and worship them; do not provoke me to anger with what your hands have made. Then I will not harm you.’ “But you wouldn’t listen to me,” declares the LORD.

God is merciful, but not forgetful. 70 years of exile were decreed to Judah until the land was paid back the sabbath rests it was owed.
“But in the seventh year the land is to have a sabbath of rest, a sabbath to the LORD.” Lev 25:4
“The land enjoyed its sabbath rests; all the time of its desolation it rested, until the seventy years were completed in fulfillment of the word of the LORD spoken by Jeremiah” 2 Chr 36:21

Yes, God gave instructions as to how to live while in captivity. Israel was always to be a blessings to the world, and they would be able to thrive, and increase because the Father had already promised to bring them back to the land after 70 years. But how were they to return? In repentance.
Vs.12-14of ch 29 is the key: “When you pray to me, I will listen to you, provided you seek me with your whole heart. I will let you find me, I will reverse your exile.” (wholehearted= no other gods or mixing of pagan rituals)

Believers may be in “exile” in their own countries, but we must begin with repentance before God will listen. Individually, we can find comfort, and peace with God, but we will suffer the consequences of judgment that is coming to our country.
We, as a nation, will face judgment because as a nation, we have not turned from our evil ways. We have increased our separation from the God of Israel. We want blessings when we flaunt wickedness in his face? We’ve been taught his laws don’t matter to him anymore.

So, if “exile was the plan”, what was it for? You didn’t say. I think it was to show them/us that God will share his glory with no one. That he will listen when we cry out with our whole hearts, and he will deliver us when we repent, turn and follow him alone.

I’m sorry many people felt sad as result of the election, but must we try to put a positive spin on it? It is time for truth because time is short and we must not be deceived. We must learn what God requires of his own: We must be hearers and doers of the Word.

    • Suzanne Russell says:

I think it leads us to repentance, like you said. Not only are we to build and live and prosper, but we are first to repent and lead others to repent, then God will heal our land. Those in pain will see our peace and want what we have. It will be our time to tell them of the love of God and His provision for us. They will see the power of God working in us and either they will join us or they will rail against us even more. Either way, the rapture is coming and we want people to be saved. ALL those that will.

  100. Suzanne Russell says:

I am thankful for this article. For some time, the Lord has been trying to say something to me about the exile. I haven’t had much time to look into it, but I just kept feeling like something was there and that I should dig into it more. That some how it related to us now. I just wasn’t sure about it though, until now. This is a confirmation to me and now connects the dots so that I can see how they parallel. I am in total agreement that this is a message for us now. Thank you again.

  103. Ross says:

Thanks for the post and the message. Most Christians are not even aware of the overall message of Jeremiah, the weeping prophet. Here’s my understanding: As the nation of Israel moved more and more away from God and the King’s became more and more wicked, they moved out from under the protection of the Lord. This took hundreds of years. Israel was then taken “captive” (not exiled) and forced to essentially live as slaves for 70 years.
This all occured because the nation moved away from God. The Lord always provides a way for the Remnant and this is the good news set forth in the scriptures cited.
But it would have been much better if they had not moved from God in the first place. There were even a few Kings toward the end of the line who did turn to God and prevent their generation from having to slide into captivity. I believe the Lord has given us the history of the Kings so that we may learn and avoid captivity. So far, we have not heeded that lesson. We are headed to captivity. And for most, it will not be pretty. Hate crimes, for example are aimed directly at Christians for speaking out against sin.
For us, captivity will likely mean prison or worse.
Let’s work at turning the nation back to the Lord. Let’s work at stopping the murder of the unborn. Otherwise, the Lord will allow captivity again. We seem periously close to that now.

  105. Keith S. says:

I also feel as though our country is dying before our eyes. Our secular society and the demise of the family unit is much to blame for this. Sadly I must also say my wife has some friends that go to church, sing on the worship team and call themselves Christian that voted for this. I am saddened to say that there are many people of color that also call themselves Christians that voted for this because of the color of the President’s skin. Then they all are so excited that one of their own has a second term bragging about it. Matt. 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

I believe what we are seeing is definitely God’s plan. We are in exhile and have been for more than 4 years. What we have witnessed in the last two elections was spiritual in nature without doubt! It defies logic. The first election had people crying and chanting over and over Obama, Obama. In 2008 I had a serious check in my spirit as I sat and watched the President’s victory speech. Now that he has been re-elected I am fearful of what is coming. The scripture I rely on in times like this is Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. Notice He says all things. Not just things we see as good. All things, even bad work for our good. We must never forget Psalms 23 and 91.

I believe what we are witnessing is the end times. Jesus return is near. Look at the Middle East and the rising danger of Israel. Look at how this President is treating Israel while allowing the expansion of radical Islam thoughout while telling the American people all is well. Then there’s Iran and their desire of taking Israel off the map. With Iran’s production of nuclear material and experts saying within a year they will have enough to create a weapon, how much longer can Israel sit and watch? We have many liberals in this country do not understand what’s going on spiritually over there. They are pushing this Presidenty to withdraw our troops from the region entirely. I have zero confidence that this President will come to Israel’s aid if they are attacked.

You see, it’s when Israel has overhwelming odds stacked against her while being attacked that God shows up to save His people. I believe that what we are seeing is God turning his face away from the gentile and turning towards Israel again. Let’s face it folks we are living in a Godless society in America and more persecution is on the way. I believe God has turned away from us because we have left our first love. We have allowed the murder of millions of innocent children. We now are destroying the santity of marriage between a man and a woman. His hand of blessing is not what it once was on the United States. It is my belief that in a few years all the pieces of prophecy will be in place for the return of Christ to happen at any time thereafter. Jesus will show up to defend Israel when she is against all odds nearing her destruction. I believe the last two elections of a Barak Hussein Obama will allow the odds to continue to be stacked against her. After all his father and grandfather were Muslims and he did say that the muslim call to prayer was one of the prettiest sounds on earth. Also Barak Hussein Obama is considered to be a muslim by all the muslims in the world. Anyone born of a muslim father is a muslim in their belief system.
We are living in perilous times. But we know who holds our future and we know he will set a table in the midst of our enemies. He will never leave us, nor forsake us. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. God will help us and when danger is all around we are in His hands safe and secure. God bless everyone. Brighter days are ahead. Exhile is for a time and not forever.

    • Jim C says:

About a week ago, just prior to the election my wife and I sat quietly in the living room of our Wisconsin apartment and discussed why we thought there were liberals. I proposed my hypothesis about Obama voters being those possessing lower IQs than what is considered average in this country but she asserted the following:
She maintains that Obama voters are two different people. The first type, the overwhelming majority, is the type that is the true liberal, the person that uses a different organ than the rest of us to think. While they actually do possess a brain, just as the rest of us, theirs is lazy and unused in the field of logic.
To make her point she asked how one could argue logically with people who see nothing illogical about saving murderers from being put to death while partially delivering babies and puncturing their skulls to suck out their brains by the hundreds of thousands, instead of asking people to be responsible about their behavior they ask that the government subsidize birth control for women and they will denigrate the Boy Scouts for trying to protect their charges from homosexual influences while championing marriage between two people who cannot possibly conceive naturally and spread disease by their filthy conduct.
Instead, they ‘feel’. If a certain action or line of thought makes them feel good about themselves they will pursue that course in the face of logic or intellectual coherence that dictates the opposite. These are the ones who refuse to even think about or accept anything that may make them feel the least uncomfortable. As an example she said that “they are the ones who see compassion as how many people are given money and goods by the government as opposed to conservatives who view compassion as how many people we can help to gain work with which they can take care of themselves and those dependent upon them. It’s the old ‘give a man a fish and you feed him for a day while if you teach a man how to fish he can feed himself’ argument”.
She avers that liberals refuse to consider whether their ideology may cause others damage or harm. When confronted with the facts that confirm that liberalism is the source of or at least contributes to dependency by a larger and larger portion of the population upon government for their subsistence she points out that they will lie, obfuscate, attack the morals of and do their best to shout down the proponent of that view. Because they cannot rationally justify liberalism they use those tactics to, in their hearts, justify their cause. They are not interested in considering the truth.
In an aside she said that she has also noticed that although these people think of themselves as generous they are actually only that way with your money and mine. While they personally give less than the average conservative to charities and the causes they say they are for, they will vote to increase the minimum wage (they have a vested interest there), they will advocate for more and more welfare for those who will not work and they will march for government payments to organizations like National Public Radio that trumpets their causes. They are not shy about dipping into your pocket to pay for their causes.
She went on to state that the second type of liberal is the one who knows he is on the wrong side of morals and is aware of the harm being done by liberal governmental policies but is in it for the power and money it affords him. This is the politician who leads these poor useful idiots of the first type around by the nose and who conjures up things like Occupy Wall Street. Guys like Teddy Kennedy and Bill Clinton who treat women like trash but who will talk about a conservative war on women, the likes of our president who says he is strong on foreign policy but bows and apologizes to every two bit head of state who calls himself king and clowns like G. Soros who will subsidize any liberal cause he can find but yet makes his huge fortune working the system he denigrates.
She said that hypocrite is the only word that adequately describes these amoral creatures. She asserts that they are both moral and ethical hypocrites who do not care how many lives they ruin just so they can gain and hold power.
While I have to agree with that assessment I said that it fits in with my theory of how those with lower IQs, those that are true liberals, can be suckered into voting for an empty chair. She then asked, given my assertions that those who vote for those on the left possess lower IQs than those who are able to apply logic and reason, how I account for college professors and those who have become wealthy who advocate for the left?
I posited that given that liberalism has ascended to its zenith in centers of power with the election of this president and the lack of intelligent discussion and browbeating by a media that is composed almost entirely by the first type of liberal mentioned above, the average citizen might take it that the liberal lack of thought is the way life should be. That average citizen knows how to think logically but because he is in the midst of those who are incapable of that attribute, because he, like all of us, wants to be accepted by his peer group, because he is being continually browbeaten using pathos (the appeal to emotions) by those around him and because the use of logos (the use of logic) and ethos (the use of ethics) does not work on those who will not use that organ on their shoulders, he stops arguing about issues. He becomes docile.
In the case of the professor, intellectual proficiency is not automatically conferred upon him just because that person goes to a university and becomes proficient in one or more lines of study. There is no lightning from heaven that awakens one’s ability to rationally conjure thoughts once a PHD appears behind one’s name. I believe their lack of sound logical thought has more to do with the fact that professors are in their own little world and, in order to make themselves and those around them feel good, they espouse the type of rubbish that accomplishes just that. The fact that their ideas cause so much harm either doesn’t enter their thoughts or, just because they have good intentions and their motives are benign, they should be forgiven the harm they do.
Take Lyndon Johnson for example. His great society initiative was motivated by his intention to lift up those that were poor and those minorities who he thought needed help. He was aided and abetted in that scheme by many university social science professors with scads of well-intentioned ideas. What he accomplished though was the creation of a permanent underclass enslaved to the state and subsidized by the taxpayer that has been robbed of their will to work resulting in a permanent criminal class who would rather commit crimes to gain needed cash to further their hedonist desires. He also incentivized illegitimacy by rewarding mothers for propagating while excluding fathers from the household. Any professor worth his salt should have and would have foreseen the actual outcome as a probable result given the human propensity for taking the path of least resistance. College professors everywhere are scratching their heads wondering what went wrong while others are delighted with the results. Could it be that the credit we give professors for possessing intelligence is misplaced? After all to garner a phd behind one’s name requires little more than acceptance of certain academic works by other phd’s and proof to those phd’s of knowledge of one’s field of study.
As a matter of fact, after having attended various institutions of higher learning from a community college in Iowa to a Catholic college in LaCrosse and a state university in Madison, experience proved to me that almost all of the PHDs with which I have had experience had a definite demonstrable lack of skill in objective intellectual thought.
For example consider the fact that the greatest number of professors at Viterbo College, a Catholic university in La Crosse, consider themselves Christians. A majority also consider themselves liberals. Now, considering that, if one claims liberalism as their social belief, one pretty much has to believe in the sanctity of a woman owning her own body, which liberals translate into her innate right to kill the baby in her womb at her whim. One also has to believe in natural selection as opposed to what the bible says about the origins of man. Given that Jesus would recoil at the mere thought of infanticide and said his Father made man in his own image, the objective thinker would consider those positions to be in opposition to one another. Taking into account that these professors are said to have achieved a certain level of academic proficiency in order to be able to teach college students I found it astonishing that they could hold both views concurrently.
The only way that I have found to reconcile this juxtaposition is to accept the fact that there is absolutely no definitive connection between intelligence and academic achievement. Because there is a tendency for academia to lean severely to the left there cannot be that connection, that link.
The pity is that these professors do not confine themselves to teaching their area of expertise but feel free and are even encouraged to proselytise their social causes to their starry eyed, easily molded charges.

I hate to say it, but I believe it is the beginning of the end of the great country we once knew and loved. We are becoming nothing more than a Godless resurection of Sodom and Gomorah – and we all know what happened there. Slowly but surely it has been coming since the 1960′s and with the influx of immigrants who do not share the true meaning of what being an American means takes us closer to the end. I don’t like professing doom, but the division that is evident between the parties is more pronounced than ever before. A house divided cannot stand, and unfortunately Barack Obama lacks the skill set to unite the country. I’d like to be an optimist and say that in four years we’ll take it back, but I think by then the country will be in dire straits and we will lose even more ground by then. God helps those that help themselves, take care people and prepare yourselves!

The Marxists have won the battle! They infiltrated society with agents whose mission was to re-educate Americans on the superiority of marxism, atheism, anti-authoritism (different from anti-authoritarianism), and materialism (life’s value is in the stuff we can get); while pointing out the failings of capitalist (“bourgeois”) democracy. The result was that instead of teaching American political philosophy, from Constitution to the Federalist Papers (at least ##1 and 10), teachers have taught a redefined utopian collectivist “democracy”, have taught that rich people are selfish, and have taught that the role of government is to do things for people, instead of protect people so they could do things for themselves.

I appreciate the reassuring quote: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

This is the way I see it; The average democrat, the one walking down the street, thinking with his heart instead of his brain, just wants to make himself feel good without spending his own money.
The democratic politician, on the other hand, is dishonest and deceitful in that he knows that the policies he espouses and pedals will enslave men and uses the good intentions of the average democrat mentioned above to gain and keep power.
Consequently, it can be said that the first is stupid but the second is villainous. One need only revisit McCormick Hall the night of the election to get a good view of both. The evil politicians and the useful idiots.

I feel it is because of this – abortion- that we suffer now. I am 71 years
old and have put my trust in God all these years, I will not stop now.
Your quote from Jerimiah is right on. In fact as I made my Christmas
cards for this year, one of the lines I put in it is “When you seek Me with
all your heart, I will be found by you.”

    God bless

  114. Corina says:

Steve, what a fantastic reminder of fear not for God has it all under control!

A few years ago I read through the Old Testament and something fascinating stood out. There is a cycle of power that is played over and over throughout society. I believe I began in the book of Deutronomy and read through Kings. The cycle that stood out was one where the people of Israel would be blessed by God, abundantly, in many respects. Once they were in a comfy place they wanted control and began breaking all of God’s rules, making their own Gods, becoming obstinate and proudful.

This is when God would turn His face away from His people. Time, years, would go by and He would allow for havoc to reap on them as a result of their pride. Inevitably they would return and plead with God for forgiveness and mercy. God in his absolute and unrelenting Love for them would forgive them and once again bless them abundantly. Sadly, however, the next generations would also fall prey to pride and stubborness and the cycle would start all over again.

I believe we are in this cycle as well. The big question is which part do we want to play while in it? Do we want to be part of the remnant that inspite of common sense we choose to follow God and still speak boldly of His Goodness? Or do we wallow in our sorrows and seek other Gods? Do we choose to be defeated as if we have no God? Do we patiently wait on God knowing that inspite of the falling world around us that He will bless us personally and individually according to our faithfulness in Him? So then, what or who have we to fear?

Steve, thanks again for your encouraging words and helping us all wake up from our slumber. God’s directives are clear and it’s time to rise up as a nation, humble ourselves before God, tear down all other gods and sing praises to Him who watches over our great nation. At the end of the cycle, I want to be known by God that I was part of the remnant.

  115. Sharron says:

Please read Jeremiah 29-30 for yourselves. God clearly told Judah why they were to build, plant, etc. in verse 28. It was because they were going to be there for a long time -70 years. In other words, don’t think you’re going anywhere anytime soon.

The good news comes in chapter 30. This is where our mighty God confirms his promise to never completely destroy his covenant people. He alone will cause their captivity to end. He used Nebuchadnezzer to discipline his people.
In Daniel 4:17,25 “…declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of men.”

If we are to have hope, it must be in our God. We must agree with him, repent, study his word, otherwise we will be deceived into believing “the lie.”
“They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.” 2 Thess 2:10-12 The USA has delighted in wickedness.

For those who say, America will again be the country she once was – even better. Quit putting your hope in man. Things will not get better – they will get much worse. God has sent a warning to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. He is coming soon. He alone is our strength, our Savior. Look to him – all else is idolatry!

  116. Kay Martin says:

Steve: Thank you. When sad exhaustion hit around 10p (Denver) I went to bed not
expecting to wake up…the nightmare was overwhelming. BUT, when I woke with a
start, the lovely verse reworded for just me said: In the night sorrow and pain will
last for just that night; the Joy will come in the morning. AND, the Joy met me when my feet planted on the floor…and has never left. I was stunned at the lack of any listless residue. Christ held me and let me know He alone (using anyone He Wills to use) will bring the turn around Himself. The Holy Spirit was leading me to take my eyes (physical) off the obvious and place on Him with faith and trust as John did with Jesus. My God is great, awesome in power and might and owns all that He creates. He sees the beginning from the end. 70 years we can handle with our eyes glued to His Face, knowing He will lead, grow us and come someday soon. He knows the affairs of men and He knew this man would win, for a time set by Him alone. I truly believed as I voted ‘against O’ that he would win
for the sake of the Nation and all Countries He also created. This is not just about
America, but the haughty and arrogant are here to show us all what it looks like in
our own lives (The Church FIRST). God bless us all who hears and obeys. Amen

What I took away from this past election disaster is simply we the Conservatives including most Reagan type Republican’s is simply put we have only TWO (2) choices left, we need to get serious about fighting back and take it to them the main stream media and the democratic party. We have to start using not just talking about strategies such as:
    • Eye for eye
    • They bring a knife we bring a Glock
    • Plant our boots on their throats
    • Divide the liberal media so we can conquer them one by one
We have had countless battles, even the 2010 election, but when you pull away the BS and get right down to it, what did we gain other than “bragging rights” but no action since Tuesday proved that 2010 was a fluke. Tuesday shows me, we have just about, lost the G*d d*m War! We talk too much afraid to get tough, we are afraid to fight the way our Fathers and Grandfathers took it to our enemies in WWII. If we were as tough with the Dem’s as we Talk how tough we should be with our foreign enemies, maybe we would not have had too many foreign threats, these enemies would surely think 3 times before f*cking with us. We need to lie cheat and steal kick some ass and do whatever it takes to Whip the Liberals into a mindset so they are afraid of us! And anyone that thinks you can rationalize and compromise with them are too stupid to be an American.

Bottom line either we get tough and use “Street Fighting” strategies till we win or die just like the Democrats, because if we don’t we will die anyway. Whether you hate them, love them and or respect them, they do know how to fight with tenacity and ready to die for what they believe in. Sounds to me they want their America more than We want ours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let the Dems try and deliver their empty promises to their constituents, we need to fight the party itself, once we do that then we can move ahead and get on track to Her Greatness.!

“Maybe we should all start to think and act a bit like Mitch Rapp”

    Steve,
Your message was so very inspiring, although it was sobering as well. Thank you for your thoughtful words. My heart truly goes out to all of those who worked so hard for so long. It didn’t turn out as we hoped.
Certainly, our nation is in deep trouble. And that would be the case whether our current President was re-elected or not. Perhaps exile is exactly where we should be so that we’ll have time to truly re-group. And maybe that will take 4 years, 40 years or even 100 years.

  120. Steve – thank you so much for sharing this! It really touched my heart. No matter what we are going through – God is with us – and will see us through!

  121. linda fletcher says:

okay, so i guess i can understand the black and minorities voting for obama, but what about everybody else?? what about my neighbors and friends, people i thought loved america and what she stands for? i just don’t get that….

  122. Princess Chanel says:

Mr. Steve my dear Christian friend sent over your email to me and wanted my thoughts and I agree with GOD’s word in your message, however, Sir let’s keep it real!!!
Your hurt and angry that the election did not go your way. However,
“Let every man be a liar, and God be true”.
Not what we think or what we feel but what is TRUTH!!! The TRUTH will set America free nothing else.

I’m a African American woman who absolutely loves the Lord Jesus Christ.
When it comes to the Christian representation of our country I just don’t fit in anywhere.
I do not understand why White Christian are so mad and why Black Christian are so happy. We have all lost out minds.

The bible makes it clear that a “The nation that turns its back on God is already done. American departed from the ways of God years ago……. we are just starting to reap the benefits of our wickedness.
Nebuchadnezzar is indeed the perfect example of a King who did not honor God and as a result found himself outside of God’s will.
Saul is another one appointed by God but having not been a good servant, kingdom ripped right out of his hands and given to Sheppard boy.

God favored Obama, why? I don’t know. However that’s the question we need to deal with and not fighting and attacking each other the way we have done with this election, it’s a sad day in Christianity.
May God have mercy on us all.

I love all God’s children so I share with you this Truth………..
America turned its back on God long before Obama came on the scene. And just like Nineveh/Jonah
AMERICA MUST TURN AND REPENT FROM ALL OUR WICKED WAYS and unless we do that Sir, Obama is just the beginning of the woes.
To all my true Christian Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, be not deceived God is not mocked. For whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap. Nothing else.

We are in this horrible mess because we have decided that we no longer need GOD and his word to guide this nation.
As far as captivity goes prayer was taken out of our schools in 1975/78(? Not sure exact date) so we have already been in exile going downhill for a long time.

It is the WORD of GOD that has power not us. God allows his spirit to flow through us and to us. Giving us the power to change a dying world. Truth Sir.

Thank you for sharing and allowing me to share. I love you in Jesus name and may God bless you real good.
To all Christians, be encouraged God is still on the Throne

    • Tess says:

Thank you brother Steve for your timely message. And thank you sister Chanel for your heartfelt words (said as unto the Lord). It was your words that actually caused me to want to make a comment (something I am not in a habit of doing!) Late in the night (Nov. 6th) I was up sitting before the Lord asking Him what was going on. The Word that came to me was Revelation 8. This needs to be read in context but the last verse was what really hit me vs.13 “As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!”” I am not afraid, far from it, has He not shown us that life is going to become harder, not easier, as that Day approaches! We have much reason to rejoice in these trying times. YES! we build, we plant, we marry, we love, we laugh, we practice what we preach…till the very end. Amen, come Lord Jesus!

Not all of “we the people” thouse of us who are so disapointed, are the only childeren of God. Although “we the people” live in this land of freedom, liberty, with the “equal” opportunity for happyness. Some of us think we are divided and therfore live divided. Let us pray for the United States of America, lets stand united now, let us put aside our diferences, and Love our country by truely Loving eachother. I have a hard time hearing my brothers heatred, I stand on my right to say the word of God. Love our Father( GOD ) with all your heart, mind, strength, your Soul, and Love your neihbor as you love yoursef. Let’s look in the mirror, and forgive ourselves. Now lets love our neihbor with the capacity of Chrit Jesus’ love, unconditional, for that is love, which removes all fear. For no wepon formed agaist us shall prosper, please believe that. We are the people, for the poeple, and we must have Faith that we are the poeple God put on this Earth to show the world that HE shall have His way. My dear fellow Americans, please join in the prayer of Mr. Romney and mine God bless america all of us, Democrats are americans too!

    • Jim C says:

      Meheklaha,
Would you have me smile and bless the man who robs me of my labor? My wages? Would you have me love the man who takes away my liberty and threatens my life for the sake of purloining my goods and wealth? I’m sorry but I must turn your argument away when I am being deprived of what is mine by virtue of hard labor and those who refuse to emulate my efforts are rewarded for their fealty to the political party in power with the lucre that was extorted from me using the threat of force.
You say that Democrats are Americans also. While that may be true they are not constitutionalists. They claim and get what they have no right to. What man, just by virtue of a claim of impecuniosity, has the right to lay claim to what I have toiled for? Yet that is exactly what is occurring in this country to the point that upwards of 47% of the population has it’s hand in your pocket and mine. While you might consent to this I, for one, do not and will not. To bolster my argument against this racket I beg you to read the constitution from which you quote and, having read each and every syllable, produce the wordage that does, in fact, allow for this oppressive shakedown by those in power.
No sir. In reply to your exhortation that I love those who treat me in such a vile and reprehensible manner I say ‘No, hell no’.

    • Judd Lee says:

Please stop and think about what these differences are you are asking us to put aside. Putting our heads in the sand in the name of Unity is not what is best for this country right now.

  124. Anna Cates says:

Your comments are appreciated but there is something each of us as individuals must realize and accept when we approach Almight God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. We have all sinned and gone away from the Truth and Love of God. We need to repent of the fact that we do not live according to His commandments but, look to our own comfort and traditions before we seek him. It is fine to claim promises from God…but it is also important to read the “if” statements in His promises and covenants. “If” we will return to him, judge with His righteous judment, be compassionate and forgiving, not committ sexual sin, not abuse our childeren or our spouses, or our friends…and most of all not put false gods before Him….and that includes, self, money, traditions of men. Then, we can claim the promises personnally and as a nation.

  125. Eleanor says:

What is wrong with you people!!!!This election had nothing to with God. He gave you a brain…USE IT. President Obama won because many people felt better with him rather than a new guy & start all over again. If you continue to put God in this you will never win. I am appalled many of you are overboard about putting religion in this race. Next we will be hanging women because they are witches. GET A LIFE PEOPLE … Lets look at it from a child reading about Adam & Eve, Gee if Eve hadn’t been tempted we will still be in that garden.

    • Princess Chanel says:

      Eleanor,

      • jen says:

I agree with Elenor…God has everything to do with it. He allows us free choice, and the nation chose. But with free choice comes the results. The next few years will simply show us what those are. But I also totally agree with the article that we don’t just sit around. Life goes on, and we were placed here to be the “salt of the earth and give it flavor”. Let’s go for it, and live each day for our Lord. :)

  128. Terry says:

Steve, as an Orthodox Jew your use of my own traditional text gives me great comfort! In fact, it was just what I needed to read right now. In 1899, Mark Twain wrote: The Egyptian, the Babylonian, and the Persian rose, filled the planet with sound and splendor, then faded to dream-stuff and passed away; the Greek and the Roman followed; and made a vast noise, and they are gone; other people have sprung up and held their torch high for a time, but it burned out, and they sit in twilight now, or have vanished. The Jew saw them all, beat them all, and is now what he always was, exhibiting no decadence, no infirmities of age, no weakening of his parts, no slowing of his energies, no dulling of his alert and aggressive mind.

I wish this same sentiment for those of us who hold fast to conservative principles and the REAL American Dream.

  129. Tess says:

Sad, you still believe the vote counts… I looked at my county (and many others), Romney clearly got the votes… What does this mean? We were snookered!! We know Obama… We know what he can do in just 4 more years… destroy the America we were blessed to be born in! My Daddy’s been spinning in his grave for 4 yrs… am so thankful that he’s not here to see what has happened… again!!! God is still on the throne… and this does not come as a surprise to Him! We must continue to stand & shine our light in this dark world!!!

  130. Tess says:

    Ezekiel 33:1-20
1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 “Son of man, speak to your countrymen and say to them: ‘When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman, 3 and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people, 4 then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not take warning and the sword comes and takes his life, his blood will be on his own head. 5 Since he heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning, his blood will be on his own head. If he had taken warning, he would have saved himself. 6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.’ 7 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 8 When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. 9 But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself. 10 “Son of man, say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what you are saying: “Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live?” ‘ 11 Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?’ 12 “Therefore, son of man, say to your countrymen, ‘The righteousness of the righteous man will not save him when he disobeys, and the wickedness of the wicked man will not cause him to fall when he turns from it. The righteous man, if he sins, will not be allowed to live because of his former righteousness.’ 13 If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but then he trusts in his righteousness and does evil, none of the righteous things he has done will be remembered; he will die for the evil he has done. 14 And if I say to the wicked man, ‘You will surely die,’ but he then turns away from his sin and does what is just and right– 15 if he gives back what he took in pledge for a loan, returns what he has stolen, follows the decrees that give life, and does no evil, he will surely live; he will not die. 16 None of the sins he has committed will be remembered against him. He has done what is just and right; he will surely live. 17 “Yet your countrymen say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ But it is their way that is not just. 18 If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, he will die for it. 19 And if a wicked man turns away from his wickedness and does what is just and right, he will live by doing so. 20 Yet, O house of Israel, you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ But I will judge each of you according to his own ways.”

Thank you, Steve, for your inspiring words after the election. I was feeling upset about the outcome. After reading your message several times, I found a sense of peace about it all–knowing that God’s ways are always perfect, although we may not be able to understand His purpose. “Thy will be done” is the prayer we all should be praying now. No matter how disturbing the events of the next four years may seem to be, we can know, without any doubt, that Our Heavenly Father is in control, and His will WILL be done! Period.

  133. jen says:

I will continue to pray for our nation. The Lord will be faithful to His people. We too can live each day for Him. One way for me is to do something to help our country is to do a better job teaching 8th grade US History. Too many people in this land do not know the history of what this nation is all about and on what principles it was founded. The founders wanted a government that would protect the basic rights of people…the rights to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. The role of the government is to simply protect those rights…not make certain all of us have all our necessities. That is our personal job and a basic freedom to do that job!!!! How far in the wrong direction can we go? Let’s do something about. Start in our own small circles and educate all groups of people. And by the way, I am tired of hearing how different ethnic groups voted. If the truth is really told, it should make sense to all rational people no matter what color we are!

Brothers and sisters, remember The Lord spoke to the children of Israel to go willingly to Babylon. That is us today. The Lord said He would supply the needs of His people and He would take care of His remnant. America is no longer a Christ centered nation and Mr Obama said as much within the last several years. DON’T FEAR!!! ALL Christians in America are part of that remnant the Lord spoke of if we don’t shrink back. Serve Jesus Christ with ALL of your heart, soul, strength and mind and focus on Him! Let Jesus focus on YOU! When this is all over, the best is saved for last! God Almighty will show America and the rest of the world that He ALONE is LORD!!! It scares me that there are so many people that just ignore the facts and don’t take the time to know who they are voting for. Per one of the early voters, an elderly lady said, I am voting for Obama as I like the guy. I hope she remembers that when she goes to the hospital and needs surgery and that “WONDERFUL OBAMACARE” sets in and says no, she is to old so just make her comfortable until she dies. First of all I want to thank you for reminding us of what the LORD has to say. As we read the story of Israel the message is clear that the LORD removed those whom “HE” wanted to save and protect. Those who remained in Israel suffered famine and great judgement, while blessing and protecting those in exile. At the close of this election it is so clear to me that we as a nation was one more time were presented an opportunity to chose our Creator, Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ or the counter part. We as a nation chose the counter part. I believe what is important at this point is to accept and embrace that the LORD has a Master Plan for “HIS” people and will protect and provide for us as “HE” did in Jeremiah.

The only problem is we honest Americans will have to suffer for the stupid mistakes of McCain, Romney and the Republicans. The next four years will be much worse that the last on attacks on our freedoms.
I knew Obama was going to win when I saw all those stupid Republicans debates attacking each other. This could have been another set-up election, just as I think the 2008 election was to make sure Obama wins again.. I guess we will never know for sure. I am not a Republican. Six mistakes Romney made:
    1. Did not engage/defend/proclaim his faith in God, from day one. If a man can’t give credit to God for his success and defend that testimony, he cannot inspire the confidence of his country!
    2. Did not use video testimonials from women, blacks, and Latinos to elicit simple, clearcut examples of how his life’s work has lifted others out of squalor. Keep it simple. If his principles work, then they work for everyone!
    3. Did not create momentum by grassroots campaigning in every state throughout the summer months, demonstrating his love for all of his country, providing him with human-interest stories to cinch up the debates!
    4. Wife’s remark at RNC: “We work hard so we don’t have to work so hard in the future?” Should have been, “We work hard so we can lift others. That’s what American’s do!”
    5. Did not aggressively defend America by making Obama responsible for his failures in Libya and by clearly outlining the deadly consequences of how Obamacare will decimate every economic class in America!
    6. Did not dedicate his remaining resources to hurricane Sandy relief by mobilizing Team Romney to airlift tractors, emergency supplies, and equipment to the storm-ravaged east coast ahead of Obama’s government-backed “first responders.” Service to country was his mantra. Nothing else would have proven his ability to lead so clearly, sacrificing all for service to others! That was his George Washington moment!

From small matters come great consequences; because in America, there is no life outside of politics!

If Romney wants to win the presidency, then he has to declare it now, go into the ghettos of America and turn them around for all of the world to see how his faith and his principles work together to lift others out of squalor, despite government intervention! If he’s the next Reagan, then his third run will do the trick. It’ll take four more years worth of service and sound-bytes to pull it off, but it is possible–if he starts now! Then Romney will have everyone calling out his name to become the next president of the United States, along with praising God; then he will have another shot at his George Washington moment!

    Pass it on.

  145. Eleanor says:

This is a story from years ago about God. God was played by Keenan Wynn & The angel was played by Marty Feldman if any of you go back that far.
One day God was sitting on a rock with his Angel. The Angel kept complaining to God that Adam was naked & had to be cold. God said no, I take care of all his needs but the angel kept complaining & finally God had enough. Meantime there was ghostly figure talking to Adam. He asked if Adam had ever said NO to God. Adam said of course not. The ghostly figure kept making fun of Adam that he didn’t have the nerve to say no to God. One day God asked Adam to do something for Him. Adam looked at the ghostly figure & turned to God & said NO. . God stood up & asked Adam if he wanted to change his mind. Adam said no. God said ok if that is what you want. On came the thunder & lightening. When the Angel looked at Adam he said now Adam will be more comfortable. Adam was standing there in clothing made of fur. God said to Adam I hope you are happy. As you do not need me anymore you can now make decisions on you own.
Left on our own we have made good decisions & some very bad ones. As God gave us a brain to think for ourselves it is up to us to make this a better world & know He is watching .
Yeah some of us wanted a different outcome in this race for election but we are going nowhere if we continue to be so vicious & nasty toward President Obama. Agree or disagree but put all that hate alongside the devil & hope he will do a good job. Don’t quote from the bible unless you can stand up & be counted as a good person without all the anger toward another human being. I can how about YOU…. Eleanor

  146. Jim Bockel says:

J was speaking to the Jews, God’s chosen people and nation. We and the USA are not a nation mentioned in scripture. Scripture has many references to those peoples and nations who turned their back on God. He ulitmately abandons them and they have died. We as a nation have turned our back on God. The founders started out right but as a nation we now routinely and aggressively reject Him. As Christians we need to work on our personal sanctification and help others find Jesus. If by doing that we recreate the nation along the lines God wants then perhaps the nation can be saved. If not then we are finished and just waiting for the burial.

  147. Liz says:

Your commentary connects well with an insight of mine. My insight was Romney WON! Yes; that’s right; Romney won. He showed those who would see and hear what it means to be a leader.

…God used Romney to get the GOD MESSAGE out on leadership and how to have the GO(O)D life. It’s time to show the FAITH to they who are on the other side. The line in the sand has been drawn. We must STAND FIRM in our beliefs and values. Let our YES mean YES and NO mean NO. Fiscal conservatives in
Congress ‘have the power’ of the check book and the message to them is HOLD
FIRM and DON’T CAVE IN. (we the people want the spending STOPPED; and
TAX CUTS to ALL (Bush tax cuts) If Obama can’t abide that…then NO BUDGET!
(he can’t enact his socialistic take-over of America without funds)

God ‘thru Romney’ has spoken what brings GOOD living:

    1. Use Wealth for benefit of others (if Romney loved his money he would have sat on his money. It takes love of his nation to run for President and speak of ideas that could have bettered many lives; and it takes $$ to run a campaign. So too,
we have to take stock of our wealth, whatever it is and USE IT for GOOD. (money
in terms of finances, time, talent, family…it’s ALL WEALTH)

    2. have FAMILY (Romney surely does; and is a faithful husband / with wealth he could have strayed. His wealth is mostly with his five sons and 18 grandkids and 1 more grandkid on the way) *wealth Obama and party can’t tax.

    3. Be DISCIPLINED (in what one puts in mouth, food or drink…and in controlling those basic human desires to indulge self in little things like food/drink; one develops an over all strong will to resist all temptations of flesh) Hardship, brings
a stronger of character person. Think of these times as blessing to show ‘the world’ our mettle. aka SPIRIT.

    4. Maturity of Spirit…ie: other centered: it’s not about ‘MY’ job, career, savings…STUFF; it’s LEARNING to DO; in order to HELP another… and the more we help; the more experience is gained and with the experience of doing
for others (work) we grow in STATURE with God AND man (neighbor) *no need to yell for ‘rights’ or ‘respect’ … respect comes when OTHER CENTEREDNESS is dominant. (the writer makes good point, plant a garden and share with
neighbor whose funds are overtaxed in these times, grow a small business using
talents (God given) and have CASH in hand while some struggle in workplaces that are barely existing

The good life is NOT about ‘the paycheck’ / working for what doesn’t satisfy. Romney’s experience helped Massachusetts get out of debt so I read, he helped businesses to flourish again, he helped the Olympics to come to be organized rightly. He used his knowledge for improving the lives of others…AND yes; that SHOULD BE why folks choose a certain work or career path. (not BUCKS ALONE)

COMMON GOOD ways should dominant. That’s the spirit of a God nation. In truth; Pres. Obama’s ‘tax the rich’ so ‘the poor’ have… is exactly what I was taught as a child NOT to do…LOOK IN SOMEONE ELSE’S BACK YARD at what ‘they have’ as opposed to what I have. God gives to all; in accord NEED. Obama’s
‘tax the rich’ because they have agenda is labeled under the SIN: COVETOUS.

So… KEEP PERSEVERING in THE GOOD…and SHOW ‘EM WHO WON!
ROMNEY and THE SPIRIT THAT GUIDES ROMNEY!

  148. Beth Jay says:

Many of us voted against Obama, not for Romney. Romney was not the choice of conservatives and Christians. It may be time for a 3rd, viable party. According to Rush Limbaugh, 3,000,000 conservatives stayed home and did not vote…………..would they have made a difference? I believe so. Early on, the most popular choices for conservatives were demonized and left the race. I don’t know that there will be another election, but if there is, people like Boehner cannot be allowed to make the decisions for 50% of the people.

  149. Liz says:

Beth Jay; Romney IS conservative. And for those who stayed home rather than ‘allow’ Romney to be President because he’s ‘not a Christian’ to their understanding; was foolish. Romney’s choice as vice president showed he has no problems with Catholic Christians nor any Christian denomination. Even Christ is quoted as saying “if they are not against you, they are FOR you” / Romney would have been a wonderful President. Instead, folks by their own ‘pride’ …allowed a man back in power who did not deserve such power. FOOLISH PRIDE.

God used Romney ‘as the message’ of how to lead. Check it out…every one of the 4 points is Romney or ‘any’ who is led by the Spirit.

Romney was the direct contrast to Obama and Romney would have created jobs.
12 million. Now, ‘we suffer’ … or go into exile as Mr. Elliot puts it. We are a divided nation, not of our doing. So draw the line in the sand and hold to
principles. I hope Congress does (the House)

And Beth; be aware there is no ‘perfect’ conservative. Impossible. But in numbers we are ‘perfect’ (as the founding fathers devised a three branch
government system of ‘many’ … yet (IDEALLY) one in spirit.

There’s no perfect ANYBODY… because only God is perfect. So, of Obama
and Romney…it was perfectly acceptable to VOTE FOR ROMNEY (not just
    against Obama)

  150. william says:

steve, all is not lost. we do not have to wait four more years. solution, any one that turns his back on our american flag, should be charged with treason, and deported out of this, get a mesage out to our people and sign a petition demanding our republing and demograts a like to try him for treson and ban him from this country, that my brother died for, nov. 9th

  151. Liz says:

A commenter wrote: I agree with you and I would like to add that as Christians, we are to embrace all (even those we do not like or agree with).

To this commenter, I have disagree. We don’t have to embrace all. Jesus’ words
were “I came not to bring peace but division” — mother against daughter, father against son, mother in law against daughter in law; etc. Now; of course, this isn’t
literal interpretation. Jesus isn’t trying to break family up. By divide it means that persons who know God (or Christ) are not going to be on the same level of seeing as ‘the world’ / biblical verses even state: love of the world is enmity with
God. and what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever.

We can TRY to be friendly and cordial to ‘the world’ as best we can; but WE should not water down our faith IN GOD ‘just to get along.’ And as our Lord also said: if our peace does not return to us; shake the dust of that town and move on.
That phrase “agree to disagree” is liberal. It means ‘they stay on their side of the
fence and we on ours’ and that gets neither they or us anywhere. Unity of Spirit
is the objective but not by ‘us’ moving closer to their way. WE must be so
DIFFERENT that out of ‘curiosity’ they want OUR PEACE, OUR JOY, OUR
HAPPINESS…(if we grumble and gripe and complain ‘like them’, if we engage
in the same type lifestyles as they (Friday bar socializing late into wee hours – rather than perhaps a simple dinner out and ‘a drink with dinner’, if we gamble
on stupid lotteries or casino trips as they, if we curse ‘the darkness’ as they,
if we dress in the same manner as they…they say: so what is there to change?
I’m ok) If we gift relatives whose lifestyle choices go against God…while saying
we don’t approve and giving reason; they say: look, I’m loved no matter what,
so I’ll do my thing that’s easiest.

Just send a Christmas Card or Hanukah card; and PRAYERS…that’s it.

DIVISION not embracing. Draw the line in the sand. No more agree to disagree.
It’s yes is yes or no is no …right action is right action according to the standard
bearer of GOOD objectively, or wrong action is wrong action.

Pray our House of Representatives know their worth and STANDS FIRM. Bad
has to back off when ‘the funds for their agenda’ is NOT there. As any parent
knows: “if you want to do that, you do it with your money, not mine” The ‘kid’
has to come back around to ‘the parental way’ as ‘kids’ have little ‘means.’
Or NOT UNDER MY ROOF son! If you want to live that way, you can get your
own place. (some do move out — ‘oh well’ — some come back to understanding)

But yes; always we PRAY for our divided loved one’s. But we don’t always have
to ‘hang with’ them. (LITERALLY; ‘hang with’… if someone jumped off a bridge
would we follow) Let them ‘hang themselves’ with their own rope the saying
goes. STAND FIRM of what we want ‘them’ to be. The choice is always theirs
of course. (free will) but we too have free will to say NO and give reason.

If they do come ‘to us’ …to ask of our help, to talk, to show friendly manner, YES
of course…sit and listen and do not push them away. BUT WE ARE NOT TO
water down our FAITH just to get them to ‘like us’

  152. Paul Calaway says:

I appreciate the fact that you went back to scripture for guidance. However, there is more context to understand the verses of scripture that you are referencing. The reason the Israelites were in exile is because they failed to honor God and follow His word.

Lev 25:1-4 ESV – The LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land that I give you, the land shall keep a Sabbath to the LORD. For six years you shall sow your field, and for six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its fruits, but in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to the LORD. You shall not sow your field or prune your vineyard.

The Israelites did not do this, and God fulfilled His promised judgment…

2Ch 36:20-21 ESV – He took into exile in Babylon those who had escaped from the sword, and they became servants to him and to his sons until the establishment of the kingdom of Persia, to fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its Sabbaths. All the days that it lay desolate it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.

God told them to build, plant and bless the land because they were going to be there for 70 years and he did not want them to diminish. However, their main remedy was to confess and repent of their sins and humble themselves before God:

Lev 26:40-42 ESV – “But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery that they committed against me, and also in walking contrary to me, so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies–if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and they make amends for their iniquity, then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and I will remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.

We must remember that these are promises to Israel and not to America. God does, however, promise to bless those that bless Abraham’s seed (Israel)

Gen 12:3 ESV –“ I will bless those who bless you (God will bless nations that bless Israel) , and him who dishonors you I will curse (God will curse nations that curse Israel) , and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. (All will be blessed by Abraham’s see, Jesus Christ)”

He also promises a blessing to those that confess and repent of their sins and humble themselves before God..

Rom 3:23 ESV – for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

We have all sinned and we all deserve to die..

Rom 6:23 ESV – For the wages of sin is death,

But God Provides an escape from this judgment

Rom 6:23 ESV (con’t) – but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Rom 5:8 ESV – but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

All we need to do is confess and believe…

Rom 10:9-10 ESV – because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Rom 10:13 ESV – For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

I love our nation and want to go back to the beliefs of our founding fathers. We must first have our priorities set right, and that means honoring God as our founding fathers did. If our hearts are right before God, He will bless us as individuals and as a nation.

  153. William C. says:

The “seeds” of our current woes were planted years ago. The instant we as a nation began to invite God out of our lives, our schools, our courts and our government – our downward momentum as a nation began. God IS the Perfect Gentleman and He will not remain where He is not invited or wanted.

As we slip deeper and deeper into despair due to the financial crisis which is about to unfold, remember this – our Redeemer draws closer and closer. When Jesus sets up His kingdom here on Earth, it will be perfect. Jesus is the way, the truth and the Life. No one comes to God the Father except by Him. He stands at the door of your heart and knocks. Listen to Him and open to Him. Your spirit is eternal. The only questions to be settled – the condition of your spirit and the location in which your spirit will spend eternity. The Bible is true. Jesus is real. Your spirit is eternal.

What is happening to us now is Prophecy that God gave His Prophets thousands of years ago. It can be trusted completely and is as current as tomorrow’s newspapers. Watch America’s relationship with Israel. God promised Abraham that “I (God) will bless those who bless you and I (God) will curse those who curse you.” That promise has never been modified or rescinded. America must be on the side of Israel or else face the wrath of Almighty God.

    • Liz says:

God is impartial, William C. God never ‘curses’ anyone. God never brings harm to anyone. (that would make God go against his own always good nature) What is the connection you are making to our difficulties today with
      this prophecy to Abraham?

  154. David Aven says:

    Steve.

My cousin Jon sent me a copy of your article and I am sending you the email that I sent to him regarding what you had to say. So here it is, I hope you post it:

    Jon

Regarding the article that you sent me that Steve wrote. People are trying to spin what just happened in the election into something that it is not. Here is the simple truth and you just better come to grips with it. You are watching a slow motion fall of the American Empire. It’s been falling for many years. Democracies never last, they always fall since people end up voting for socialist programs that will give them something for nothing. Remember that woman on TV when asked why she was voting for Obama, she said, because he give me my Obama Phone. It’s a free cell phone. Right now you have over 50 percent of the people who are getting some kind of money from the Government including seniors who are getting social security, medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, and on and on and on. They will continue to vote for that until the country is completely broke and starts to resemble what it looks like in New York and New Jersey right now after the storm. The more destructive financial storm is coming which will result in an even worse human condition and poverty in the US

For sure that was underway and happening under a Republican Administration. However, now what we have in place is a Marxist, revolutionary regimen that is aligned more with Hugo Chavez and Putin than it is with the constitution of the United States and the American dream. They say people deserve the kind of Government they vote for and now they have it. Keep in mind that 39 percent of the white people voted for Obama. McCain got more votes than Romney. Where were the Christian evangelicals, many voted for Obama along with 90 percent of the black people. So the sad fact is that the 57 million people that voted for Romney, sanity and justice where outvoted by people who voted for insanity and tyranny and there is no spinning that harsh reality. What Obama will do for sure is to keep expanding welfare so you will have more people getting welfare and more people will just keep voting to keep the give away programs in the next election in two years. This election was a nail in the coffin for US Democracy and it will now only get worse. Think the last four years were bad, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Obama and his radical administration will shred what ever is left of the constitution, he will continue to implement tyranny with his executive orders, the economy will continue to get worse, businesses will continue to move out of the country as well as it’s citizens and you will just have one big welfare fascist empire that will keep spending itself into financial oblivion until it just all totally collapses. JON IT’S REALLY OVER so you had better come to grips with it and prepare while you still can to save yourself and your family and get whatever money you have left out of dollars.

Steve may be a nice guy, but he is in total denial and completely wrong about what has just happened and can’t get his mind around it and so he in now trying to use incorrectly applied scripture verses to give him some reason for going on. He can buy all the new stuff for his office he wants, but that is not going to change one thing. Remember the people of Germany voted in Hitler and he ended up destroying the country. Now Americans voted in Obama and the same result will happen to American in the not to distant future. Steve better learn his Jewish history a lot better. The Jews were slaughtered for centuries and run out of their country. They were again slaughtered in the holocaust and they are about to be slaughtered again with Muslims Terrorist completely surrounding them and with a Muslim US President that is against them, There is no one in the US or Israel that has the wisdom and strength to do what is necessary to save their countries so they will fall, just like others have in the past. So this election not only took down the US, it also will end up taking down Israel as well. There is no way to sugar coat what has just happened and to feel good about it, there is nothing good about this at all, it’s all devastatingly bad..

At this point, I think Australia is a good option, They speak English, it’s the size of the US with 20 million people, they have a lot of strategic commodities and are in a region that is growing. Our grandparents moved from Italy to America for a better way of life. I think it is now time to move out of America for the same reasons. There is no coloring what has just happened Jon because what has just happened is the last nail in the coffin in the American experiment and along with the American dream.

You want to read a good book, go get “The End of America” by Naomi Wolf. She wrote it during the Bush administration and now it’s 100 times worse. She is an historian and looks at what is going on now in the US through the eyes of history. Maybe you can send Steve a copy and tell him to wake up and get a grip on reality and to govern himself accordingly

    David

  155. Rachel says:

You copied this word for word from Glenn Beck’s radio program on 8 Nov 2012. I don’t see attribution anywhere. These are his words. Plagiarism is theft.

    • David Aven says:

If you are talking about my article post, I don’t listen to Glenn Beck. I really don’t need to listen to any talking head to know the truth, that spirit of truth is within. God gave us a brain and he expects us to use it and figure things out on our own. So please don’t accuse me of plagiarism.

  156. Pursuejustice says:

Obama is a symptom of the plague sent by Heaven on a wildly disobedient and stiff-necked church. Read again Jeremiah 7, and where it says “temple,” substitute “church.” Read it with 2 Chr. 7:14, where the Bible says that a land is healed when God’s people turn from their wicked ways. Then check out 1 Cor. 6:1-8 where it says that God’s people should be ashamed if they do not have their own court system, e.g., to reconcile marital disputes rather than take them to secular divorce courts that puts divorcees on the sex market to fornicate and abort unwanted babies. And read Matt. 5:23-24 where it says to drop your gift at the altar and be reconciled with each other before approaching heaven. And Matt. 7:21-25 about lawless phony-baloney preaching Jesus and not obeying all these mandates. When we vote out the hireling pastors who refuse to enforce the 1 Cor. 9:21 law of Christ, then God will heal our land by ousting secular misleaders. Reform the churches by redirecting church money to dispute resolution to give the pastors fair trials, then the windows of Heaven will burst forth with blessings overflowing (see Malachi).

  157. Pursuejustice says:

Oh, yes, and don’t forget Joshua 7 where the Bible tells us that we will be defeated when there is “sin in the camp.” We have been trying to fight giants so we can occupy a land of promise, while the pastors turn a blind eye at complaints in our midst about misconduct (sin) of brothers (in the church camp). We have our priorities reversed, putting the cart before the horse by secular political activism without church political activism defeating the party of lawless pastors. Fix the churches, and Almighty God will fix (heal) the land, just as Israel was granted victory in Joshua 7 when they fairly adjudicated the case against their own disobedient brother — and passed sentence. If we are not competent to judge ourselves, then we are not competent to judge the secular world by choosing a secular leader to impose laws that we deem to be righteous.

  158. Eddie says:

One thing is true. We got creamed by the left and the dependent masses who want a free ride. It’s the fault of the parent failing to teach their kids how to live with dignity, respect and honor. The left’s tactics were very simple and used for generations, just as the devil himself did, and what Adam and Eve fell for. From the beginning, their tactics have been simple- DIVIDE! We as the church are called to unite; to love, to help, to care for our fellow human being. The left found every possible division it could come up with, splitting the smallest of hairs. The reason Walmart is such a success and is so big, is because of AGREEMENT. There have been many people that “agree” lower prices are better, so they shop there. The one who wins, is the one who has the most people agree with them. The left simply got more people to agree. The right on the other hand, did not. The Republican party is obviously divided, that is why the TEA Party came to be. You have career politicians on both sides, but it appears the Republicans have slid their way to the center and left of their conservative values and principles. That is why Romney rose to the top. He is a center moderate. That moderate stance is part of the fall from grace the party has suffered. I think there is more coming from the TEA Party even though it is not a “Party” – an official, Inc. or the like. It is a movement, much as the Patriots of early American History. It is people. People with concerns, values, and much in favor of freedom, fairness (not in the left’s understanding of fairness), faith, and the American way- which as originally founded is God’s way. We were a nation of believers who sought freedom from tyranny and persecution. Here we go again. The only problem is there’s no where to run from here. They came from within. Selfish men who’s intent originally was to help the struggling, have let their appetite for notoriety and money blind themselves to their original quest. The “Community Organizer” is just that- an organizer. They successfully organized their plan- Divide. They divided along every line- black vs. white, rich vs. poor, me vs. you, them vs. us, pro-life vs. pro-choice, religion vs. secularism, I’m right, your wrong, etc. You name it, they found a way to divide it. They have everybody fighting about everything while they sit back and take more and more ground while everyone is distracted and bickering. They appealed to the emotions and rawest of human concerns- self preservation. They instilled fear in the people. It’s classic, just like Rahm Emanuel said, “Never let a crisis go to waste.” The only thing is, THEY created the crisis, successfully vilified the Republicans and the Right, and left the country with only one choice- the guy who supposedly cared. So, many of us are shocked with our heads spinning in disbelief at the results and wonder how they did it. It pains me to say this, and I hope you understand. Many folks claim to be Christian, yet it seems today’s Christian is no different than the rest of the world. They judge, they scorn, they’re stiff necked and disagreeable. They’re mean, gossipers, and unforgiving. Why in the world would anyone want to be like that. Yeah, I know what you’re saying, I’m not like that. That may be true about you, but you know you’ve had the same thoughts. During the elections everybody got all hung up on Roe vs. Wade, Gay marriage, contraception, etc. I agree those things are contrary to our understanding of scriptures. However, those are the things that Jesus came for. The problem with the parts of the church and many shallow milky Christians is they demand change in everyone before they will accept anyone. Nowhere did Jesus demand change from anyone. He loved them. He spent time with them- sinners. He did not wave his magic wand and change anyone. they changed as a result of spending time with him, his “fruit of the spirit” -love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. What was the last time that was employed? I know, you’re saying he changed this person or that person. I think all the people changed did so out of their own convictions. Jeremiah 2:19 says,”your own wickedness will correct you, and your own backsliding will rebuke you.” Enough of that. The point is, we must learn to be more agreeable. To coin a phrase, “You attract more flies with honey than vinegar.” Funny how it was, “The land of milk and honey,” not the land of “sour milk and vinegar.” We must find ways to agree. To show love and not judgment. We are called to love; to a ministry of reconciliation. “You will know my disciples by the love they have, one for another.” Is that really what we are showing? Mitt Romney did a darn good job of walking the walk. Yet, there were divisions there- “He’s a Mormon” many said, “I won’t vote for him.” There you go- division! I don’t think he hardly said a word about his religion, yet many blew him off because of it. Someone said, Preach Christ; and if necessary, use words.” Leave the big stuff for God to sort out. We are called to love. Love is finding a way to agree. Then, we will win. In the end, God wins. The only question is… are we ONE in HIM?

  159. Meheklaha says:

Please remember, God asks us to love, ” our enemies ” now just because you love your enemy, does not mean He wants us to hang out with them, and or become as they are. We can love with out liking the action of thoughs we may concider our enemies. Lets follow our hearts, God’s Heart in us. Do you believe God has His hand on the USA? If your hope is on what you see, and your Faith on what you know, then my Hope for you is that you return to your first Love and trust that He works ALL things out for the good of we who know Him who are call according to His purpose. Even when the score is against us, and it is the bottom of the ninth, Jesus will be the last batter up! Peace , not as the world gives, Life, and more abundatly, Hope that will not fail, He is the author of Faith. Hang on tight and enjoy the ride, it may be scarry, but He shall bring us home safe.

  160. Trish says:

I believe Christians like myself signed out own fate when we sat idly by and did nothing about the killing of our unborn. If the Priest of Baal were not spared why do we think God will spare us ? But he will continue to love us and provide a way for us through this storm, if we will harken to his voice are willing to let him lead.

  161. Robert says:

Thank you Steve for that wonderful Biblically based spiritual perspective. As a religious Jew and a political conservative, I pray with my Christian cousins that we will ultimately prevail in our struggle for the soul of humanity. On a practical day to day level, we must continue to live our values, plant seeds (such as continuing to have children and transmit our values to them) and always be ready to teach others. On my personal level, I am trying to find more and more ways to fight, to persevere and to teach. As a teacher, it is often difficult to get my message in an industry that is left oriented. However, I at least bear witness to conservatism to my college students and let them know that we conservative educators are out there and available to have conversations.
Lastly, I would like someone’s advice about how to be more proactive politically. There are times I really feel like running for office; not for self-aggrandizment nor a career but to be a part of fixing this country and this world. During the presidential debates, I was amazed at the lack of response, the lack of passion and the lack of EMPHASIS made by Romney and Ryan. I don’t know if I could have done a better job debating under the live pressure but I felt that in watching, I could have.

  162. Bonnie says:

Thanks for your message. It did help me today when I sat down and read it. We are in for some tough times but God will prevail. It just may not happen the way we wanted it right now. We all need to start today to reach out and try to talk about our values. There are many people out there that do not have a clue of what really is going on because the mainstream media doesn’t share the whole story. We need to help educate people over the next four years.

  163. john m says:

We all deserve Hell, but Christ made a way for us to not get what we deserve, if we only believe in Him. We and this nation deserve far worse than Obama, look what we have allowed to go on for so many years. We have thumbed our nose at God for way too long, and I believe we will be getting a bigger taste of what most Christians around the world live with every day. Some will fall away, some will draw closer to God,the choice is ours. Remember to pray for all our leaders, after all God put everyone of them in place. Come soon, Lord Jesus!!!!!!!

  164. Sandy says:

As I read your blog and each response several things are clear. You all believe that God is only supportive of those who voted for Romney–that the rest of those who voted for Obama are Godless sinners. How insulting! How dare you make those judgments? What if everything that happened was right smack dab in the middle of God’s will and he is teaching you lessons about judging others–especially our President. I could list every accusation and counter them with the harm the Republicans have done this country. But it is useless. Because all of you only get your information from Fox–Rush Limbaugh–and other far right radio hosts. That’s why all of you were shocked when he lost. It was clear he was going to but Carl Rove swore to you it would be a landslide for Romney and you believed him. So instead of writing more arguments I know you will not listen too–this Independent-non party affiliated Christian is going to pray for you that you are forgiven for assuming we are all Godless because we did not vote your way. What we proved is that no Corporation–no matter how many billions it spends can buy this country from the people. The 52% that voted for Obama and the popular vote that went his way deserve to have their opinions and beliefs. We were founded on that right. I pray you quit trying to take that away from us. And I pray that God will soften all our hearts to live as he intended in peace in this great country.

  165. Tim says:

That is interesting, but I am very reluctant to force fit stories, situations and verses that occurred 2500 years ago and assume that they apply or mirror situations we find ourselves in today.

As God’s chosen people, whose purpose (the Messiah) had yet to be fulfilled, God was fulfilling prophesy. Besides, if I correctly recall, they had made a lot of bad choices in kings and falling into pagan worship and were reaping the consequences of such.

God gave America a choice. We made the wrong one. We have crossed over that tipping point where there are more than 50% who are voting for freebees, further entrenching the entitlement establishment that buys votes and eventually destroys societies, as the parasites consume the host.

Our black Christian brothers and sisters vote on color and covetousness. In so doing they vote for their own genocide, in the pro-abortion agenda, since Planned Parenthood was formed for that purpose and hasn’t wandered far from that original mission.

Other brethren voted third party and write ins because Romney wasn’t perfect.

There was massive fraud, the military largely denied their vote, and the media basically joining the other side. People no longer vote on fact or policy, but rather feelings, a really pathetic way to vote for the most powerful position on the planet.

Churches, paranoid of the IRS, failed to adequately teach biblical principles (perfectly legal as long as specific parties or candidates are not endorsed).

Like the Israelites we now get to suffer the consequences of our choices.

Four More Years in Exile is not just another blog or post. I believe it was divinely inspired and ALL people of ALL faith need to read it, pray, and work to further prepare our children and grandchildren to assume the task at hand.

I have read, re-read, emailed, and tweeted this a LOT. It is so hard hitting and yet, inspirational. The thought of just giving up is more depressing than the thought that it might take 70 years to fix it -well beyond my expected life time. Likewise, I didn’t spend 20 years in the Army to turn America over to a dictator.

I encourage everyone to pass this on in any way you can – especially share it with your pastors. And most important, support Grassfire. No, I’m not a shill but I am a member and this blog simply “bears witness”.

Thanks Steve…undoubtedly this is what we “clingers” needed in desperate times.

I might say of this advice: Jesus went back to Nazareth; but could perform NO MIGHTY DEEDS in that city; for they were of little FAITH; in GOD. (and themselves)

The Republicans have tried in all so many ways to assist those who feel their
lives are not as they should be: It started with a Republican named Lincoln; who
pitted brother against brother (north and south) to give freedom, then came
the worker responsibility act of ’94…saying YOU CAN DO IT…go and learn
and work; no more welfare dependency; this will be limited to 5 years (YES, some did take advantage of the ties that held them bound to dependent living)

The ‘ghettos’ as one commenter wrote, has be ‘fixed’ by they who reside in the
‘ghettos’ / no outside influence can change folks. Not unlike the pharisees had a negative word for every good Jesus himself did while on earth

  168. Jan says:

The lesson to be learned here is to build up and strengthen our townships, communities, counties, and states in conservative ways and family values.
The states need to become strong to stand against the federal government when it overreaches it’s bounds. We all need to stand and fight for the 10th Amendment.
And, teach our citizens on a local basis about Agenda 21–the U.N.’s plan to subordinate nations to their will. Look at your own town and see if they are already using Agenda 21 plans in future development of that community. Obama is trying to implement this U.N. coupe of our national sovereignty.
We need to educate the public about what is important to each person’s future. That is that their own individual agency to think and act for themselves is basic, but with responsibility for those actions. All people need to know that there will be consequences for their actions; either good or bad. That is the rule of eternal law that is completely overlooked in our current secular culture.
Teach the people that each person can feel better about himself/herself if he/she works to become a better person by doing good for others. Such would give them a sense of accomplishment and self esteem that they cannot get in any other way.
Educate, educate, educate all our citizenry!! Especially the children and youth of our country. We are lost if we lose our youth because they are our future.
Everyone, get involved on the local level to restore our country to national greatness again!

Yes; Jan. My point when I commented of Arnell’s premise that Romney
should help the ‘ghetto’ as Arnell put it. Romney can’t help anyone be better. Jesus could do no mighty deed in Nazareth til they in that town; BELIEVED in who Jesus was and amended their life and way of thinking.

Mere mortals persons can’t make someone’s life good. God and only God can. Amen

Wonderful, encouraging article Steve! Appreciate you putting Jer 29 into the right context…how instructional are the holy scriptures if we would only read them in context. I also found this article helpful in understanding WHY Obama won a second term and how it actually appears to be his “destiny.”
    http://www.isthatbaloney.com/that-sickening-feeling-about-obama-and-this-election/

  171. Jim says:

We need to stop saying that Obama “won” the election. You can not win what you have stolen from someone else. If someone breaks into your home and steals your food, we don’t say that he “won” it. If someone takes your ballot and marks it for a candidate you dislike, or throws your candidate’s ballots away and replaces them with his ballots, or stands in front of the polls preventing you from voting, or prevents a large group (the military) from voting, it is theft, not a “win”. When dead people and cartoon characters, and 1 year old babies vote for him, when 141% of the registered voters in a county vote for him, when he gets 100% of the votes in 40 precincts and the other guy gets 0, Zero, no, none, of the votes in a large city, It is Fraud. I personally will do nothing at all to support the person who stole an election (probably 2 elections), in a country which has proclaimed itself to be a Representative Republic, when my Representative was robbed of his rightful place.

  173. Jeanne H. Beck says:

I have kept track of the number of times I have run across the verse Jer: 29:11 during the last approximately 10 years and have wondered why this verse was so special to me. Yours is the 40th time and I shall add it to my list which I keep on the blank pages in the front and back of my Bible. It occurs to me that the verse in Esther “For such a time as this” seems very appropriate for this particular time. I talked to one of my daughters after the election and she said she felt like one of the Israelites wandering in the desert and I agreed with her. As someone else has previously said in this blog, God is in control and his Word is true. We need to follow His will and listen to Him as we Christians journey through this time. In the end we will gain the ultimate victory!

  174. Jeanne H. Beck says:

can you please erase the first blog I entered above since it is not complete and just leave the second reply as is? thank you

  175. I awoke Tuesday, November 6th, with God’s whispered message in my heart, “pray for My will to be done.” I knew then and there what the outcome of the election would be. It wasn’t my will, but it was His – for whatever reason. What came to mind was God’s warning to Judah in Jeremiah. After the nation’s history of idolatry, God’s “servant” King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon was coming to siege Jerusalem and take God’s people into captivity. Was this going to be America’s punishment for turning her back on the One True God? After watching the film, 2016 Obama’s America anything was possible.

When I received your encouraging email I sent it out to my friends, and all day long I too received it from friend after friend. Thank you for helping me see, as Paul Harvey once said, “the rest of the story.”

I am so happy that Glenn Beck picked it up also. God bless you Steve. Keep up the fight because we know that God is still on His throne. And He is watching over His Word to perform it.

  176. brian says:

A friend of mine shared your post with me. I too am a christian but I don’t agree that Romney was god’s choice or that his /your agenda is god’s plan or will. Most of the ‘christian’ right wing is full of self righteousness and with that comes judgement. This business of seeing yourself as right and everyone else wrong just because you say you believe in Jesus is not at all scriptural. Your whole quoted scripture is, of course, from the old testament. That’s because what your ilk loves is the god portrayed in the old testament. That image of a vengeful, angry god is more like yourselves and you feel comfortable with that concept. But Jesus came to put an end to that. Jesus showed us a Father who dearly loves ALL and is not willing that ANY should perish.I am so tired of you so called christians giving my Lord a black eye. He is the god of mercy. He is the god of unconditional love. Followers of christ are not right wing, gun carrying extremists who hate everyone unlike yourselves and then put on the badge of christianity by saying “you’re bad but I’ll pray for you”.
And by the way…you didn’t lose because your side didn’t turn out to vote. You lost because there aren’t enough of your type left to swing an election. You are outnumbered by good, kindhearted ,loving people and so this country will move forward in spite of your hate. Come out of the old testament and live.

    • Liz says:

Hi Brian: I see you ‘can’t see’ yet. I would guess you are of a youthful age.
(non experienced) la de da da da …’happy’ and ‘loves all’ / let me give you
a few words from the New Testament for you to reflect on.

      1. To your statement: outnumbered by good, kindhearted ,loving people
–the good, kind-hearted people who re-elected this President with a four
year record of putting 23 million on the unemployment line with his business mandates…never would have given an aging President of ‘the right’ another 4 years for such record. (mercy is not objectively handed out)

      2. Your judgment that the Christian right wing is self righteous; implicates
yourself. How can you rightly know who is self righteous? In so doing, you make yourself self righteous as well. They know nothing; I know what it’s
about..and with that comes judgement of yourself. You see yourself as
so right and ‘the Christian right’ wrong. (same thing) Hear yourself. Get
      a reality check on yourself.

      3. Jesus loves all; but Jesus hated sin. (separate the two things in
your mind) Love the sinner, hate the sin. (it’s a difficult concept, and
many blur the two together.) In a simple statement; it is permissable to
judge actions of someone. Actions. (not heart) Actions. And Jesus
did give instruction on actions that go against us: ‘shake the dust of
the place and go to the next town’ / I come not to bring peace but
division…mother against daughter and father against son (etc) Does
that sound like love…that they who know Christ (God) will divide from
their own relatives? He said love them; by speaking truth to them.
(and pray for them) Where two or three are gathered in His name is
there peace, otherwise – divisions will occur. (and therein lies the
problem) And you? If you loved ‘us’ …you would work to mend relations
not tell us ‘we have it all wrong’ (give reasons for what you believe and
how ‘we’ are wrong; which you did not do) I have heard the “the right
is angry line so many times from ‘your side” … ever think it’s your perception of reality? That you have it wrong? And anger isn’t always
wrong; many times Jesus got angry: the most famous scene was in
the temple as he overturned tables (not a loving of all is it?) another
verse from Romans 1:18; For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. (doesn’t sound like God accepts
      anything)

I will agree with this much; we should never tell our adversary that we are praying for them; (in they who understand; they appreciate prayer) but
to they who know nothing of such powerful love; they get all stiff necked
and bristly…how dare you pray for me “I am not bad” (the first sign of
a spiritually astute person is the understanding they need prayer and
      feel good when it’s given)

Stop judging and ‘right yourself first’ / get yourself fully in tune to God
and you might hear ‘the Christian right’ with clearer ears; not bringing
your own lifestyles to our words.

      Peace to you; friend

  177. Mary says:

Allen West needs a recount of votes, and so does the presidential election. There is so much apparent fraud (voting machines defaulting to Obama, SCYTL’s SOE Software “counting” votes in 27 states, Black Panthers patrolling voting centers, 100 percent of districts in swing states for Obama, etc.) that there is no way the election was accurate. Of course, since voting machines downloaded directly to the SCYTL server there is no paper trail accountable to the public, no independent verification. We have been duped.

    • Mark says:

Facts. Accusations like yours require facts, and there are none because almost everything you stated is a lie. This is why the Republicans lost, instead of presenting a sensible plan for the problems of this country, you argued about made up issues that most American’s realize are lies.

Now you try to explain your loss with more lies. Unless and until Republicans return to reality you will forever be a minority party.

      • Liz says:

Accusations do not require facts Mark. A citizen can be arrested and brought to trial based on evidence of wrong doing. It is for the accused (get it, accused) to defend him or herself against the accusations (and not the other way around)

For example; if a car is stolen in a neighborhood; and evidence of investigative agency (police) show that a
known convicted car thief resides a few blocks from where the crime took place, and criminal left tracks by
show wear that matches the shoes in closet of thief and
        thief is seen driving same described car a day after theft;
The evidence is such that an accusation can be made.
We the accuser do not have to speak of ‘facts’ until the
trial…the facts being evidence, witnesses, etc. / jThe accused is innocent to the jury and judge until proved guilty; this is true…evidence presented by prosecutor
is not a lie (false accusation) until the accused proves it to be false FACTs come from the accused.

Rather than just yell LIES AND LIAR…which says nothing.
Articulate why such is not so. And the calmer you are the
more credible. PROVE IT FALSE, Mark.

As in the case of our President and the call for him to present his college enrollment papers and transcripts.
President balks and says no. (only putting more doubt
on minds) An innocent person with nothing to hide would
say SURE; here I signed the papers authorizing you
to go pick them up. Be my guest.

I think what Mary is saying: democrats should be so
above board in all that the election is about; no doubts
can be thought of. No accusations of shady doings.
There should be a known paper trail, to check if need
be, no one ‘hanging around’ polling places after they
voted…vote and out of building. Police should be on
hand to watch. Keep yourself always accountable to
different people; so the Spirit can speak for you.
I insured an honest election by implementing and kept
so and so informed and did this this and this and
anyone can check because this is set in place …etc.

ABOVE BOARD at all times…eliminates legit doubts.

        • Mark says:

Thanks for clarifying, Liz. So Obama, Democrats, Liberals etc. have to continuously defend themselves against the accusations that have no basis in reality.

You made an interesting statement – “A citizen can be arrested and brought to trial based on evidence of wrong doing.” Evidence are facts. What evidence has Mary presented to support her accusations?

Let’s do a little thought experiment – Liz, you are a shill of the Republican party, paid to reply to posts like mine. In addition, you and I are the only real people posting on this board – you are Liz, you are Mary, you are Brian, you are sandstress, etc.

So, I’ve just laid out 3 accusations – prove them wrong. Prove to me that these thing are untrue. Apparently, I have no responsibility to give any evidence that these accusations have any basis in reality, it’s your job to refute them.

Now, do you see how ridiculous your assertion that it’s up to the accused to refute baseless accusations is? Even if I am accused and sent to jail, it is the job of the prosecution to present evidence of my law-breaking ( Innocent until proven guilty ).

If Mary’s accusations have any basis in reality, let her give some evidence. I’m not saying Mary made this stuff up or is lying intentionally, I’m sure Fox News or Hannity or Glen Beck or someone is spouting this nonsense and Mary is simply repeating it. But repeating a lie is a lie regardless of the intent.

Stay “Above Board”? What have Democrats done that is below board in regards to the election? Democrats don’t run the election Liz. If you want a paper trail ( and I want a paper trail too ), then complain to the elections board in your state.

          • Liz says:

Well Mark, since you asked what Democrats as a political party did to make them suspect of ‘not being above board’; how about their fear of photo id’s at polling stations?

The state of black panther intimidation is fact based not by Fox News but a federal lawsuit…look it up on the internet.

No person should have need to defend themselves who live lives ‘above reproach’ / objectively this is what I meant by being above board. Have the photo id’s as the Republican party put the idea,
what is the problem with that? Because it is a Republican idea? They should embrace it wholeheartedly; to circumvent the doubts in any voter’s mind of fraud.
When good ideas of a common good are put down; one would have to question why they are against such.

Above board is how any person should live. Honest always, solid citizen worker
and taxpayer, live a quiet life, a family
life. Give ‘a bit’ to charitable endeavors or
just help neighbor as needed…then when
any accusations are made; ‘the spirit’ of
the person is ‘heard’ over the ‘words’
(no defense is really needed) Kindness,
quiet, law abiding citizen of character.

  178. sandstress says:

To “Brian” who says, “Most of the ‘christian’ right wing is full of self righteousness and with that comes judgement”, and also accuse of “hate”. First, sir, you misspelled the word ‘judgement’. (There is no ‘e’ after the g). If you are going to accuse (or, ironically, ‘judge’) others of a particular thing, at least know how to spell the word. Secondly, I find it interesting that you YOURSELF quite obviously seem to be doing the VERY thing you accuse the MAJORITY of other Christians of….being ‘self righteous’, as you put it. By who’s power, sir, do you have the authority to judge Christians as a WHOLE UNIT — in particular since you don’t know every single Christian living at this moment?? Unless you can say you personally know each and every Christian on the planet (and God knows you DON’T) YOU need to be careful not to judge (or stereotype) so collectively. As a Christian myself, I reject your judgment. Secondly, when you accuse falsely your words fall into the catagory of ‘slander’. Do you know what the bible says about slander (defamation of character)? 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 says, ” But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister (a believer) but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people. 12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. Expel the wicked person from among you.” While it is acceptable to confront a brother/sister when we believe he/she is wrong, it is NOT acceptable to judge Christians as a whole, of something we simply cannot know to be FACT. While it does appear you love God and Jesus (I’ll give you that), you should take a page from your own book and be more like Jesus, in refraining from accusing a brother/sister falsely.

    • PMC says:

You didn’t spell who’s correctly….should be whose. Also category was spelled wrong. Also seems strange that the President can be “judged” as a godless, non-believer when none of the folks commenting on this page know the man. Satan’s minion……Really?

      • Liz says:

Actions can be judged. His actions of 4 years are plain.
We all judge actions and we don’t have to know someone to judge actions. If you saw a thief steal a purse from an elderly woman at a bus stop…would you be legit to yell STOP…THIEF; even if you didn’t know ‘the man’

  179. sandstress says:

I have been lifted up by Steve Elliott’s reminder to us all, of the Jew’s ‘Exile’. Up until this morning, when I believed that all hope was lost (and that the only thing left to look forward to was the Rapture), I have been encouraged by Jeremiah 29:. I thank God for Steve, in pointing out that we missed the real message of Jeremiah….that the PLAN INCLUDES the exile, and that it is designed to prepare us for what God promises will come. Let’s build, plant, bless and pray!! Thank you, Steve! God opened your eyes, so that you could open ours! God bless you!

  180. Johanna Roberts says:

Thank you Steve for the encouraging message.

  181. Randy says:

It is evident that WE THE POEPLE of the United States of America has been deceived by the current events. We have been feeling terrible about all these events that have taken place in this country. So much tyranny so much destruction our nation our principles our leaders who deceive us and has shown us the use of pathological lying from these leaders from media in this country has damaged us all. I find Steve Elliott’s four more years of exile letter inspiring and does makes God given sense. I am a Christian and I know right from wrong, though I may not always choose right from wrong, I try to live right and forgive my brothers and sisters. It’s not easy to live by as we all know this; we all have been tested and sometimes to the limits of breaking as long as we ask forgiveness of it and receive it, God will bless us. Right it’s not a blame game for God has his time and we are to choose right. We the People have no control over the wide path of corruption taken place in this country; I agree lets Build houses and settle down, – Plan gardens and eat what they produce – Marry and have sons and daughters – Marry off your sons and daughters so they can have children – Increase in number; do not decrease, according to the book of Jeremiah 29.4 I would encourage as written in the letter to read Jeremiah chapt 28 and 29 and I would further encourage reading your entire bible daily, something I have been lacking in myself. We should not just read but study it.

  182. Dominic Daddato says:

Wrong. This is what I would have done if we had won the election; rebuild our fallen country. Now you’re asking me to build a Socialist America, something our soldiers fought against since the beginning of WW 2. You sound like a liberal. Sorry, no can do.

  183. Sherman Overby says:

This is an outstanding message to read and hear. However, the background music was so loud I could not hear Glen Beck read the letter. Thanks so much for sending this.

  184. David W says:

Do You WHY WE – Republicans “lost” this election?

I didn’t think many would know the real reason… so I offer my reasons why we lost.

The old military addage of “Divide and Conquer” came into play. Absolutely true!… We became so divided – Tea Party, Traditional Republicans, and any small internal faction that would brew up – was never solidified and UNIFIED!

The Democrats did what they set out to do – win the White House – they did as a collective unit – while we sast by bickering among ourselves not giving tit-for-tat about the Country as a WHOLE. We are too worried about what it’s going to do to our pocketbooks/wallets that we lost sight of the goal… withe White House. According to my understandings, estimations, and comments from around the community, that over 3.5 million registered voters didn’t exercise their right to vote.

Overall, I don’t care how people vote! I simply want them to vote. I don’t want to tell them how to vote any more than I want the government in my wallet, but when your have well over 45% of the voting population not voting, then is it any wonder why we lost? Is it any wonder why we lost when all the campaign was being “fought” it reminded me an elementary school boy pissing match. “Let’s see how far you can pee…I can pee on more ants than you I bet! Teacher he peed on me…

Sure Mitt Romny exclaimed his passion for helping the country to grow more jobs – so did President Obama. President Obama’s healthcare reform is absolutely horrific, but how does former governor Romny’s healthcare reform of Massachusetts differ from the President’s… or did it differ.

The media took our division, coupled it with a pissing match and let the sh…tuufffff…. roll downhill. They were sure it was going to snowball the disinterested and apathetic voters. Did their scheme work for them or did our division allow them to conquer us?

Divide and Conquer… We – Republicans divided and they – Democrats conquered… Wow – who’s fault is it now?

    • Liz says:

The difference between a health plan of Massachusetts or Hawaii (they have one also) and the Obama ‘agenda’ is that A STATE can do as they
wish (at the agreement of THE MAJORITY in a state) State ‘rights’ trump
Federal / State synonymous with PEOPLE. The people want it; go ahead
if their budgets can take it (based on people being employed to pay for
      it)

But for Federal to mandate it on all people (states) like it or not; is total
federal ruling over all people. At an enormous cost financially. It’s not
based on the numbers employed but the numbers unemployed. It takes
health insurance from they who had it by employment; and ‘gives’ to
they who didn’t have it for all types of reasons (choice, religion, or
supposedly couldn’t afford; the numbers that couldn’t afford used to
be less…now their are more without insurance because of federal
      rule over policy.

  187. daniel and marcie says:

well,we lost because we have become a giveme nation, some people will work some will not.the people that want their families to have things, food, clothes, pay taxes, their tites..will work.our parents taught us the value of things to be good to one another to be good to the God almighty.we have taken him out everthing ,he does not like that we have mad him angry we are not suppose to do that.when we come back to him,he will come back to us.dan and marcie

    • Liz says:

Daniel and Marcie…God is with us ALWAYS…if God seems NOT there; guess who moved? (that’s what you mean, I know)

Some of us have worked jobs all our lives; to the best of our ability. We are released by employers when no longer needed because we went to work for ‘small’ or ‘midsize’ private employers. I speak for myself. In private employers who are small or mid size…they do what is best; they can’t afford paying us a higher wage; so the release us…when we reach our peak rather than talking to us about their dilemma. If they asked, we would probably agree to NO RAISE but additional work responsibility.

It was ok when free enterprise was abundant…but as of TODAY’S WORLD THERE IS NO WORK…it has been taken captive by socialist leaders who want power over business and workers.

These socialist leaders are probably they who ‘barely’ got thru high school, and if they did…it was because they ‘charmed’ teachers and students with ‘the mouth’

Don’t blame all for not working…sometimes CONTROL prevents us from working.

  188. Exhausted 66 says:

You have lost the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 elections.
    You are the minorities now.
Don’t you wish you’d treated minorities better on you way up the ladder?

    • Liz says:

Treated minorities better on the way up the ladder?

      1. What is a minority person? Only they who see themselves as not with the majority.

      2. Consider this thought. Don’t minorities wish they had spoken with other than their own to find out how they ‘on the road up’ helped those
struggling? Who is it that works at the Red Cross? Who is working
behind the scenes at Community Food Banks and Soup Kitchens?
Who helps with athletic and academic after school curriculum, in my church; those of ‘means’ began a hospitality house where those with temporary needs can come to re-group themselves (they live and learn skills to get them back on their feet) Clothing drives are held in many churches of those ‘of means’ / I think the majority of ‘means’ reach out to many ‘minority’ … for many many many years.

There are so many altruistic ‘wealthy’ who begin scholarships in the
schools (inner city schools) that they once belonged to.

If you ran across a few bad folk different than you in race; sorry to hear
it; but don’t lump ALL as ‘bad’ / that – would be prejudiced!

Give thought to your words before speaking.

  189. Lisa says:

This post and the comments are really discouraging to me. Everyone is so sad and fearful, and many are worried about a conspiracy against their values, and that’s a really difficult way to go through life. The worst part is, there’s no basis for it, and people are suffering needlessly. Considering that there’s a Christian in the White House, I don’t understand why so many Christians are upset. When I hear people talk about our nation dying, I have no idea what they’re talking about. What has happened to you personally, or in your community, or your work, to make you think that the nation is dying? When people talk about socialism, I think of medicare and medicaid and social security, and how good and right it is that we’re taking care of “the least among us,” just as the Bible commands. What do American Christians think is wrong or un-American about everyone having access to healthcare? Making sure that no one has to suffer and die for mere lack of money for healthcare is the humane, loving thing to do. It seems like such an obviously Christian thing to do.

When I see people making posts and comments like those preceding, I have to think that they’re avid watchers of Fox News (which has a clear political agenda–and a financial interest in having certain people in office) and have been taken in by dishonesty and fearmongering. Liberals have not rewritten the nation’s textbooks; Obama is not a “tyrant”; and our nation is not godless, nor is it dying. I hope all of those posting here can take a step back away from all the political messaging and look at the reality of their day-to-day lives and all the goodness there is. Let’s ALL come together, Christians and non-Christians, Republicans and Liberals, people of all ages and ethnicities, and love each other and be good to each other and build an even better future TOGETHER.

    • Liz says:

Lisa; you speak like someone about; 22 to 30 years of age. Not as yet experienced in human nature. Try to let go of your thoughts and ideas to
THINK (something that is not taught in schools) Schools teach literal
facts but not the ‘in between the lines’ truth in what the textbooks are about.

A Christian in the White House? CHRISTian means one who shares
in the life of CHRIST. (The Way, Truth, and Life…which leads to objective
GO(O)D. Would Christ, who Christians by faith understand to be GOD
in flesh, sign orders that abort new life (sent by God?) That’s killing ‘a
nation’ / Would another President of same party, who understands what
being Christian is – sign orders to stick a scalpel in the neck of a partially
delivered infant; then with same lips talk about helping the ‘oppressed?’
What greater oppression than to come out all pink and new and get it
      in the neck (literally)

You believe Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security are good; do you think the money for such just ‘happens?’ It’s not ‘a third person’ handing this to citizens; CITIZENS pay THEIR MONEY into a system so that they have when old and can’t work. Of course, under a certain party
ideology who embraced ‘free love’ (sex without the responsibility which
is CHRISTIAN love for another) killed off the future generation that would
have sustained those programs for ‘elder mom and dad’ / this is why this
social program is going bankrupt. The new society isn’t there…they’ve
been aborted. If you like social programs to help others…do it yourself
with the net pay of a job. Give to sis who needs, parents who need, brother who needs. ie: this is the Christian ideal way of life: ‘blood’ is
thicker than a political party that takes from all and then says “vote me
back in” or you could LOSE your ‘security’ (God faith says – NO you
won’t lose it, if you lived right, if you have ‘family’ / Faith in GOD…that
spirit of AUTHENTIC caring and love for one’s own. No dependency on
a disinterested in you political group. THINK!

What’s wrong with national healthcare is: NOTHING is FREE in life. I know
you probably haven’t lived long enough to realize it; but the TRUTH says:
there is a ‘cost’ to having. (want a good job? study and work for it, want
a house? give up this to get that and SAVE for a down payment, Want
good health? it won’t necessarily come by way of an insurance policy.
In fact, when folks ‘just get’ one…and they believe their ailments ‘are
      covered’ …something in the human psyche starts to let the body slide;
But…to pay one’s own healthcare and know the cost of sickness (in terms of loss of activity and work (disabled) and the $$ cost; makes one THINK
a bit more (about what is put inside the body) smoke, drink, non
exercising. Yes; some want ‘others’ to ‘pay’ for them. And of course,
MORE had a health insurance policy before that law; now MORE not
less go without. (that’s a bad law) They go without but can ‘get’ by being
dependent (not independent worker for one’s own needs) on their
political party. (who will hang it over their head every election…yoo hoo
you don’t want to lose this do you? They are not solving difficulties of
a nation; they are bringing all to live as dependents of their ‘human
charity’ (which is NOT as God would act…who DIED that we could live
FREE; of such human rulers; by living THE GOD way…work to have,
do good, and good flows to you (good health for one), love others by
bringing them to see ‘the good’ of helping others (marital love of God
is such love; and the premise to marriage is ‘the blessing of having
family’ (marriage is a call from God; that builds a family, new society,
and someone to be there ‘as one’s security in old age’

      Think!

    Hi, Steve
Thank you, so much, for your email entitled, ‘Four More Years…What This Means’. The day before the election, I was feeling very heavy-hearted and I didn’t even know how the election was going to turn out yet. All evening, I just wept and prayed, couldn’t even hardly eat… pretty much in grief mode. I was looking at some early results that showed Romney ahead and then, later, after seeing Obama pulling into the lead, I couldn’t look any more…I just went on to bed. The next day, after I heard that Obama had four more years, I saw your email and, finally sat down and took some time to read it. I began to feel so much hope, and I loved the Bible reference that you gave. Between that email and sharing with some friends at my church, I began to get a new perspective. God is still on His Throne, this election did not take Him by surprise, He Has a Plan and He is a Great Big God Who knows how to take good care of His children. I know that I can continue to praise Him, worship Him, serve Him and Trust Him with my life and my future.
Thank you, Steve, for your encouraging words.

You may have hit on GOD’S PLAN! When the money is flowing and the good times are rolling…guess who is forgotten? When crisis comes; whatever it be… some folks cry WHY…GOD? or OH GOD …HELP!
or a natural storm comes and folks BLAME GOD. (but… smooth sailing
and abundance… guess who doesn’t get the credit)

In these next 2 years…watch and wait and see how many say OH GOD
      where are you? PLEASE HELP…

He just wants to hear us ask… and He’ll be there…
